Opening tomorrow 2pm-3:30pm!!! 🎊🎊

Berko Community Fridge is opening tomorrow at Northchurch Social Centre. We are so grateful to for homing the project!

Come over to Northchurch Social Centre, Bell Lane, Northchurch, HP4 3RD- Tuesday 2pm-3:30pm to save food from going to waste.

We can't wait to see you there, looking forward to seeing old faces and hopefully welcoming lots of new faces too ❤️🌟

Berko Community Fridge reopening 20th January 2pm @ Northchurch Social Centre!

After 3 very successful years of our Open Door Community Fridge, luckily Berko is not saying goodbye to this wonderful project, where more than just food was shared, but friendships were formed and people were supported to provide food for their families.

The new community fridge is ready to launch at on 20th January 2026, run in partnership with the wonderful volunteers from Berkhamsted Together.

🍞 Come and collect food which would otherwise go to waste

🍊 Every Tuesday between 2pm - 3:30pm

🍩 At Northchurch Social Centre, Bell Lane, Northchurch, HP4 3RD

🍪 Open to all - come and rescue delicious food for free!

🍏 There is generally fruit, veg, bread, flowers, and more - it depends what the shops etc have excess of. The aim is to reduce food waste, so food is sometimes nearing its "Use By" date but never past it, while "Best Before" date items are often welcome if still good quality.

A community initiative where volunteers from Berkhamsted Together collect food from cafes and shops around the town, and redistribute it to residents - everyone is encouraged to come between 2pm-3:30pm on Tuesdays, at Northchurch Social Centre, Bell Lane, Northchurch, HP4 3RD.

It's the end of an era, the last day of Open Door Community Fridge 🥹

Thank you so much for the support over the last 3 years 🌟

This impactful project has saved more than 15 tonnes of food from going to landfill!!

Open Door Community Fridge last session!! 💔

Come down for the last ever community fridge session at Open Door. Tomorrow (Tuesday) 10-12.

We are having a little Christmassy farewell, so please pop in, even just to say hi!

We have a new location in the pipeline that will be ready for January and will be shared soon. If you would like to support in any way, please get in touch.

Bread is Britain's most wasted food ! 🥖🍞🥐

We get lots of bread and other delicious baked goods at the community fridge from local bakeries and and also from the supermarkets and .

All the while stopping kilos of bread from going to landfill while helping the Berkhamsted and surroundings community access it for free. Bread is easy to freeze so come down and stock your freezer!

Thank you so much to all the local businesses for donating their produce to reduce food waste!! And to for helping us to run this project for the last 3 years 🌟

Next week Tuesday is the last session before Christmas, we will be back in the New Year in a new location... Watch this space 👀

45% of cut flowers in the UK are wasted 🌷🌸🌹🌺🌻🌼🏵️💐

While food is the main thing we redistribute, we often get stunning flowers that have not been sold.

Having cut flowers is a luxury that many cannot afford, but it really brightens up many of our service users days when they find a lovely bunch of flowers to take home!

Come down to our penultimate session of the year 10-12 tomorrow, Tuesday 9th December, before we find a new home in January..... watch this space for updates!

Doing our bit for our planet and our community's pockets when things are tough over the winter. ✨🌲

The community fridge is still up and running for the next two weeks Tuesday 10am-12pm, helping out the community to reduce food waste and helping people to access good food before it goes to waste!

Please come by and say hello, and grab a delicious baked good from one of the brilliant bakeries in town who generously donate their surplus to us 🙏 🥖🥐🥯 and perhaps some gorgeous vegetables or fruit like we had today kindly donated by and ! 🍅🥒🍌

Tuesday community fridge session this week in front of Open Door Berko, 10am-12pm 🌟

As usual, we will be redistributing surplus food, kindly donated from our local community. We will be here until mid December, after which we have to relocate due to the sad closing down of Open Door Community Space 💔

****If you have any suggestions or leads for new locations where we could host a weekly community fridge session and store a large fridge and large freezer, please get in touch or drop by on Tuesday for a chat!****
