This gentle exercise is suitable for all abilities. No experience necassary.

Every Tuesday afternoon, 2pm - 4pm. No fee, no hidden agendas, just a warm welcome, good company and a cuppa afterwards.

Belper Events Cancer Pitstop Nether Heage Notice Board Friendly Belper Belper & Duffield Rotary Belper Primary Care Network

A year ago last April, neighbours Tony and Mark set up Belper’s Cancer Pitstop after they were both diagnosed with cancer. Since then, the group has gone from strength to strength.

Run entirely by volunteers, it is generously supported by Belper & Duffield Rotary Club, and local businesses whose contributions keep it running.

Living with cancer takes an enormous amount of time and energy, often leaving very little room for normalcy after diagnosis. The pitstop provides an informal, welcoming space for people living with cancer, undergoing treatment, or supporting loved ones, where they can leave cancer at the door. It gives attendees the chance to connect with others who share similar experiences, and importantly the opportunity to talk about life outside cancer.

During my third day of my big walk across Mid Derbyshire, I stopped by the men’s cancer pitstop at the Belper Royal British Legion Club, official. It was clear during my visit that the group fills a vital local need. Over 30 people attended, and the atmosphere was positive and full of solidarity and comradeship.
