Tar Isteach serves Republican Ex-Prisoners, their families and the wider community of North Belfast. We work at the heart of neighbourhoods grievously affected by decades of armed conflict and multiple deprivations. We play an important role in community development, promoting peace and conflict transformation and building relationships with people from a broad spectrum of opinion in society. We a

re committed to equality and social justice and to providing services and assistance in response to issues of discrimination, poverty, disadvantage, exclusion and isolation.

With an introduction by Síle Darragh, who commanded IRA women prisoners in Armagh Jail during the 1980 hunger strike, The Comrades is a unique collection by former prisoners who personally knew the men who died on hunger strike in 1974, 1976 and 1981.

The book is an important part of the history of prison struggle.
