Belfast And Lisburn Community Project

Belfast And Lisburn Community Project Walk INN - Belfast And Lisburn Community Project is a homeless charity supporting homelessness Nobody truly starts out homeless.

However, during one’s lifetime, various circumstances turn necessities we all take for granted, like food and shelter, into scarce resources. Whether it be mental health issues, addiction or family circumstance, some people lose their way. Most of us are too busy to see the problem.

Homelessness has gone beyond crisis with more individuals that have no other option but to sleep on our streets.

It’s understood the man, who was known in Belfast’s homeless community, was found dead in a doorway in the Gresham Street area in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The death of homeless people due to cold weather is a tragic and serious issue, with data showing that hundreds of people die annually while experiencing homelessness. These deaths are largely preventable and highlight a significant public health crisis. πŸ™

BALCProject 2025 Christmas Appeal!
πŸŽ…πŸŽ…πŸŽ…πŸŽ…πŸ¦ŒπŸ¦ŒπŸ•―οΈ

We have added some items to our Amazon list that will be useful in making up the adult christmas gift bags as well as some chocolate treats for adults and children. Our amazon wishlist is mostly for guidance and for those who wish to donate this way if they live far or don't have time to shop.

If you find cheaper products elsewhere, feel free to contact us to add them instead. Our list should allow you to send us any items that are not on the list so if anyone wants to add items for the appeal via amazon, please contact us πŸ•―οΈπŸ•―οΈπŸ•―οΈ

Our Christmas appeal each year gives as many people living in temporary accommodation and rough sleeping, a wee gift at Christmas.

Same as previous years, we will be looking to distribute as many Christmas Gift Bags to those in temp etc.

The usual contents of a gift bag or shoe box would be.....

Hat, Gloves, Scarf, Deodorant, shower gel, socks, boxers/pants, Toothbrush/toothpaste, Christmas chocolate treat or selection pack.

➑️This is just a guide, feel free to add what you like.

✨✨✨✨You do not have to donate a full bag if you don't want to, you could donate 1 item and we can make up Bags with all of the items donated ✨✨✨✨

The Amazon list is a guidance wishlist, if you can find things cheaper than by all means.

We may also need some help with drop offs in the run up to Christmas. Please email: volunteer .org.uk if you are interested in volunteering your time.

Items can also be dropped into our premises at numbers 16 Holywood Road Belfast BT4 1NT

The closing date will be the 23rd of December to allow volunteers to deliver.

πŸŽ…πŸŽ…πŸŽ…πŸŽ…πŸŽ…πŸŽ…

At this moment, we have the following list of Children that we are looking to support so any help is appreciated.... Due to the nature of the service, this list will frequently change but it's a rough guide. Also staff will be delivering these gifts to the families in time for christmas. Closing date for gifts for the children's appeal will be the 18th of December to allow staff time to deliver to the kids.

We have a good mix of children from all ages, Babies to Teenagers so any gifts would be appreciated and we will collect everything and divide it up for each child.

🀝Any help is appreciated 🀝🀝

It is an increased danger and hardship faced by people sleeping rough during the cold weather, which is met with both emergency measures and offers of support from our charity, and the public.

Offer basic kindness: Simply talking to someone, asking their name, and offering a smile can help them feel seen and valued. πŸ™

It is the time for hot chocolate and cozy blankets, perfect to stay inside…for those who have a home.
