Maybe not everyone knows that Repair Cafes are “pay as you feel” events.

Our volunteers give their time and skills freely to help the community, and while there’s never any obligation, donations always help support the running of local Repair Cafes and keep the repair movement growing 🌱

Every little contribution helps, and is always appreciated 🙏

You could definitely say we enjoy the craic at Repair Cafe events 😊

We love bringing broken objects back to life, but most of all, we love the connections and stories that come with them, like Kieran’s 💚

Kieran brought his brother’s teddy bear to Repair Cafe Belfast. It had been handmade by their grandmother, and after years of love, its paws were badly worn out. But that teddy still had an important job to do - being there for the new baby in Kieran’s family 🧸

Thanks to the wonderful volunteers at Repair Cafe Belfast, a little bit of magic happened, and the teddy was ready for a new generation of cuddles 🤗

Another great First Aid workshop in Laurencetown in collaboration with the British Red Cross 🚑

A big thank you to our fantastic instructor Gary, and to all the volunteers who took part in the training and got hands-on with learning potentially life-saving skills.
Special thanks as well to LLTCA - Laurencetown, Lenaderg & Tullylish Community Association for so generously providing the space for the session.

Great to see communities coming together to learn, support each other, and build confidence 🤗

What a great session we had yesterday in Omagh exploring how to set up a local Repair Cafe! 🙌

Participants came from a range of groups already doing amazing work in their communities, and we’re so excited about the possibility of welcoming a new Repair Cafe group into our Northern Ireland family 🤗

A big thank you to Ryan and the whole FOCUS Omagh project for hosting us, and to everyone who attended and shared ideas and enthusiasm. It was also lovely to have Caitilin from the Environment for All PEACEPLUS programme with us.

Great collaborations helping build stronger, more sustainable communities 💚🔧

We're looking forward to heading to Lisburn tomorrow, to join in the Sustainability Trail at the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council Fun Day at Wallace Park.

We'll be talking to folks about starting a repair cafe for the city - and how they can get involved! Come say hi and find out more.

Then next month, there'll be two more great opportunities to explore more:

🛠 3 June 11-1pm, Mini repair cafe with The Resurgam Trust at their Community Fridge. Sewing and electrical fixes by our good friends at Repair Café Carryduff, ask your questions and find out more over a nice cuppa.

🧵16 June 7-8.30pm: Setting Up a Repair Cafe for Lisburn workshop - come along and get involved as a volunteer or organiser, with the support of Repair Cafe NI. Link to register in the first comment ☺

"I believe it is the best Saturday morning anyone can have!" Those are the words of one of our dedicated volunteers - and he isn't the only one who loves being part of a repair cafe team and making a real, positive difference to local people and community!

We asked our volunteers why they got involved and what they get out of it. Another said: "The sense of community is fantastic. Even if things don't get fixed the public sees that everything was tried. The volunteers are happy, the public are happy, money is saved and things can be used again. It's a win win win win!".

Read more about what it's like volunteering with a repair cafe, current opportunities and how to get involved in our latest article. Link in the first comment!
