The incredible sight of a gig in an alleyway. An Lána Glas, the Haypark Rushfield Alley garden off the Ormeau Road was alive during the Fleadh in August, with over 30 musicians and 300 visitors. Well done to all involved.

On saturday in our sister organisation Community Gardens Ireland launched Community Gardens and Allotments Week 2026.

Over 50 gardeners from 14 counties the length and breadth of Ireland got together to share experiences, perspectives amazing fresh local food and our self-saved seeds.

It was inspiring hearing what Limerick has been able to achieve with a range of approaches from guerrilla gardening to an environmentally engaged directly elected mayor, and the local university involvement.

An Inspiring start to a week celebrating all we do together! 🥕✊🏻

On Saturday October 17th Community Garden Support and the Seed It Union will be coming together with Belfast Seed Savers in the Duncairn for a deep dive into the amazing practice of seed saving and why, especially now, it matters more than you might think!

Showcasing local agro-ecological seed and demonstrations on how to save seed from vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit, this free event will give you the chance to get hands on with the amazing seeds that feed our world, talk with local seed savers and share your stories of the seeds you love to sow, grow and hopefully save.

Feel free to bring your own seeds or come along to learn.

There will also be a scything demo from heritage mower Andrew Lintott.

This is an in-person event. It is free, but ticketed - suitable for all ages.

Today is the start of National Community Gardens & Allotments week here in Ireland, and we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to reintroduce ourselves.

We are Community Garden Support, a small fledgling charity committed to supporting community gardens in Northern Ireland and advancing the policy support for community growing nationally. Even though we are new charity, our small but dedicated team have been working together for 7 years.

Hi Everyone. Here is the flyer and booking link for the Food Growing #101 workshop, 12-4:30pm on Saturday 26 September, at the Annadale Community Centre, off Ormeau Road in Belfast. The idea is to pool our knowledge, skills and creativity to produce a season-by-season guide to growing your own food at home.

Should be a fun event and lunch will be provided. Hope to see you there! This event is being run by Reclaim the Commons, with support from Community Garden Support, and funded by the National Lottery Community The National Lottery Community Fund Northern Ireland

Community gardeners from all over Ireland gathered together yesterday in Stradbally Co Laois to build the Global Green Community Garden at Electric Picnic, always the beating heart of the pop-up Eco-village. In the CGI curated space our own Conor was joined by Dee and Ian from Carlow, Joanne and Lindsay May from Ourganic Gardens in Gortahork, Ellie and Kuba from Duhallow Social Farming in North Cork, Maeve from Mud Island, Molly Jack and Eilish as they created a microcosm of these amazing portals to a vibrant cooperative ecological society! New in the garden space this year was powerhouse organic grower from Kerry, Thomas O'Connor of Manna Organics with the Talamh Beo stall. "Community Gardens are the gateway drug to agro-ecology and food sovereignty!" he pronounced, and with demos of Biochar production, Seed Saving, Johnson-Su compost makers, a huge range of food and flower crops and DIY garden furniture and activities it was hard to disagree. If you are at the Picnic, do your heart good by coming over to Global Green for amazing chats, activities, performances and inspirations - it all kicks off today 12.30 until late Sunday evening - the Solarpunk future is here!!

Our upcoming online workshop on ethical fundraising promises to be a great opportuity to learn some tips on monitoring the sources of our funding, and weighing up ethical concerns against the need to secure money for our work. We will also get some advice on writing an ethical fundraising guide for your organisation.

This workshop at the Playtrail, Derry on the 25th July aims to bring together those working in their local commuities to improve food resilience. We will explore together opportunities and challenges for our local food resilience, and identify gaps in the food system that prevent us from progressing.
This event is free, and generously funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. Lunch will be provided. Booking is essential.

Understanding how the food sytem responds to shocks, and identifying skills and help we need to develop local food resilience plans.
