On Wadensday the QUB Ulster-Scots Society wus prood tae invite Wullie Olphert frae the Ulster-Scots Agency tae gie a hantle o a talk on the Ulster-Scots leid. It wus unco interestin tae finnd oot hoo the leid wis forrit-brocht throu the influences o Germanic a Celtic leids. William forby spak aboot the futur o Ulster-Scots an the potential the leid haes within education. In respec o standardisation, it’s clear it’s necessar tae forder the leid in a wey that’s quate an hamely wi aw speakers, sae that the leid is inclusive.

Awthegither it wus graund tae see sic a wheen o fowk at the event, an we thank aw thaim that wur in attendance.

We’re delighted to introduce Lee Walker, the Heid Yin (President) of the newly formed Ulster-Scots Society at Queen’s University Belfast!

Lee helped co-found the society out of a passion for cultural identity, history, and building community.
