Information session

If you are interested in Open Learning and would like to find out whether this opportunity might be suitable for you, you are invited to an information session with colleagues from Queen’s Open Learning and Civic Engagement.

The session will provide an opportunity to learn more about Open Learning, explore the courses available and ask questions about eligibility and how to apply.

You do not need to have selected a course before attending. Come along to enjoy a cup of coffee with us, find out more and discuss the options available to you!

Queen's University Belfast, Belfast City Council and the Department for Communities are delighted to invite you to a free Information Fair that will be held on Tuesday, 16 June 2026 from 5.00pm to 7.00pm and on Wednesday, 17 June from 10.00am to 1.00pm in 2 Royal Avenue.



All are welcome, particularly those from migrant and minority ethnic communities, including those who have sought or are seeking asylum here.



Join us to hear from our fantastic range of stallholders, including experts from the fields of:

General Advice Services; Education; Employment support; Health care; Housing; Immigration; and Policing and Community Safety.



BSL and ISL interpreting will be provided on Tuesday, 16 June 2026 from 5.00pm to 7.00pm

Arabic interpretation will be provided on both days.

Embrace NI is holding a Language Fair that will be held this year during Refugee Week. The Language Fair will take place on Friday 19th June from 3:30 to 5:00 pm at the Skainos Centre (East Belfast Mission, 239 Newtownards Road).

This event will give those who are offering ESOL classes, conversation cafes, other foreign language classes, other kinds of language help, informal friendship groups, etc. an opportunity to showcase their work and to learn from and collaborate with others doing similar work. It will give newcomers to our communities a chance to find the resources they need in an informal and friendly environment.

****MEMORIAL SERVICE****
Every year, thousands of lives are lost as people flee from war and famine, perishing along dangerous land routes or drowning in the Mediterranean while attempting to reach safety.

On Sunday, the 18th of January 2026 at 3:00 p.m., a Memorial Service will be held at Newtownbreda Presbyterian Church (St. John’s), organized by Embrace NI and open to everyone of any faith background. There will be no casket or burial, as the precious lives being commemorated never made it here or to safety anywhere. They died before reaching the security they risked their lives to find. We will honour and remember them together.
