The countdown is well and truly on! ☕️ 🎂 🧁

Next Sunday is our first event! Come along and treat yourself! Tea, coffee and a wide range of treats will be available! We will have a kids section also with a few activities and games to keep them occupied while you’re treating yourself!

All funds raised are going to help us support Children and families going through childhood cancer.

Hallie and her family are running a coffee morning on 27th September at Mullans Bar in Cookstown. They have kindly picked A Gift From Grace and Breast Cancer as their 2 charities to support.

Hallie is an amazing young girl who we had the pleasure of meeting on the ward with Grace.

Another addition from ourselves at A Gift From Grace for the B Positive suitcases.

Wireless battery packs!
We know what it’s like being at home until you get an out of the blue temperature spike and you have to grab and go straight to the hospital to be admitted or those days where things don’t go to plan at clinic appointments. These wireless battery packs are handy to keep in a bag as a backup for those low battery moments.

We headed to the ward in July to leave off some more items for the children who are currently admitted, this comprised of toys, arts and crafts supplies and some books. As always we enjoyed catching up with our second family and we are always thinking of the families that are going through these challenging times 🫶🏼

The next visit will be a big one - leaving off the very first drop of Grace’s Birthday Appeal !!!

How are you up there ?
Have you met the rest of our family ?
Have you met some new and old friends ?
Are Sox, Lexi & Ollie behaving themselves, I hope your keeping Lex in check for me
Do you miss us as much as we miss you ?
Are you happy and safe ?

Do you see what all mummy & daddy are doing for you and your charity ? I hope so, and I hope we are making you as proud as you made us

These are some of the thoughts and questions that go on in our heads daily, everything we done and still do always has Grace at the forefront…

I know we aren’t the only parents in the world that have all this and more running through them every minute of every hour of the day. Take each day as it comes and if you need time to breathe find that space and sit in it

It’s official A Gift From Grace is now a fully registered charity!
We want to send a massive thank you to our trustees, family.
friends and everyone who has supported us so far.
Your continuous belief in Grace’s plan is what got us here.
Having a charity status will allow us to do so much more towards
helping children and families going through childhood cancer.

Immunotherapy

Immunotherapy is a treatment that works alongside the bodies natural immune system (the one that stops us all from getting sick).

The cells that cause cancer unfortunately are smart and are able to trick the bodies immune system into believing they are normal cells. So immunotherapy helps and uses the bodies natural immune system in its own way to detect and destroy the cancer cells.

Your consultant will advise on whether this is an option or suitable to your child

Please take a look at this really important research study looking at the late effects of proton beam therapy on teeth and jaw development in childhood cancer survivors.

As many of you know, we’ve experienced these late effects ourselves. I first got involved with Emma’s research after we started having problems with Mollie’s teeth, when Dr Danny at UF Proton kindly put us in touch.

It’s so encouraging to see research focusing on the long-term impact of childhood cancer treatment, because survivorship doesn’t end when treatment finishes. Understanding these late effects is so important for improving care for children in the future.

If you or someone you know had proton beam therapy for head and neck cancer as a child, please consider taking part. Every response helps build a better understanding of the challenges survivors can face.

There’s also a £10 voucher for completing the survey. Thank you for helping support such an important piece of research. 💛
