City of Belfast Advanced Motorcyclists City of Belfast Advanced Motorcyclists is a local group of IAM RoadSmart.

CoBAM aims to advance the skills of motorcyclists in Northern Ireland by providing a supportive and friendly environment leading to advanced testing by IAM qualified assessors.

Update: Wednesday 24 June we will meet at Infinity because of the concert at Boucher playing fields.

Wednesdays: for the next few weeks (edit: from 1 July), we will be leaving on our Wednesday runs from Shane Retail Park on Boucher Road. So, if you want to discuss IAM RoadSmart and advanced riding courses any Wednesday (until further notice), come along to Shane Retail Park at 6:30.

Today we saw 13 members, 2 associates, 3 taster sessions and a pillion meet up at Cornmarket for a run up over Black Mountain to Aldergrove Village and on to Randalstown for a debreif before making our way to The inn castledawson for brunch.

The afternoon run saw us take a trip over the sperins to the The Fat Fox Café for some coffee and then on to Dukes Ultra Premium Ice Cream outside Gortin for some seriously good ice cream in the sun.

On Saturday past a number of our members along with members from a few other IAM groups braved the weather to take part in a social run from corn market along the coast road to Ballycastle for a bite to eat and then on to portstewart for ice cream before heading home through coleraine, ahogill and Randalstown

Mike Redfern-Jones from Denbigh, Wales, has spent more than 40 years volunteering for IAM RoadSmart and was named on the King’s 2026 New Year Honours list for his outstanding contributions to road safety.

This Saturday, CoBAM will join an IAM-organised group run (ice-cream in Ballycastle!). So, if you were hoping to meet up to discuss IAM RoadSmart, maybe come along the following Saturday (at 9:30am) or Wednesday (at 6:30pm).
We will have observed runs for existing CoBAM associate members - details per WhatsApp as usual.

Earlier this year, COBAM ran a ladies only night at the Bike Pit which was a great success.

Bike Pit volunteers saw how popular this event was, and held another event this week for lady riders.

COBAM initiated the concept of a lady rider event at Bike Pit, and it’s great to see the concept really take off with hopefully more of these sessions taking place.
