SIGBI Stop Human Trafficking

SIGBI Stop Human Trafficking Join with Soroptimists from accross Northern Ireland to campaign against human trafficking of men, women and children.

Maureen Maguire, Soroptimist International President and Past President of Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland whose motto is ‘Women inspiring action, transforming lives’, said: “It’s easy to assume that slavery is something which has long ago been consigned to the history books but, sadly, that is very far from the case. Today women, children and men are still victims of human

trafficking for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation or for forced labour in agriculture, construction, food processing, domestic servitude and food services - often right here in our own country.

“Trafficking to the United Kingdom is primarily from Eastern Europe, Africa, the Balkans and Asia with some victims, including UK resident children, also trafficked within the country.”
