We are deeply saddened to share news of the passing of Robert Verner, a longstanding and cherished participant in our Inclusive Sports & Leisure Initiative, a partnership programme with ABC council.

Robert had a zest for life and all things sport! A football fanatic, he was a valued member of South Lake Disability Sports Club since 2013 and enjoyed many sports and activities in his time with us. These included sailing, archery, inclusive cycling, boccia and even off-road driving!

He was also involved in our boccia programme as a member of Craigavon Boccia Club and competed in the NI Boccia League.

A true advocate for disability sport and inclusion, he brought so much fun (and mischief!) to our groups. Loved a practical joke but generous to a fault. Robert often brought treats for staff and his fellow participants and was always the instigator of the groups Christmas outings! He certainly lived life to the full.

Disability Sport NI staff attended Robert's funeral on Monday in what was a touching celebration of his life. Robert will be very sorely missed by all who knew him and we send our sincerest and heartfelt condolences to his family and many, many friends.
