Our Give & Take young people in Belfast enjoyed a brilliant English class with Dave this morning! ⭐

After a week of stress and tension, Dave got everyone outside with some chalk and encouraged them to write down reasons why "the world is great."

It was a simple but powerful activity that sparked positivity and great conversations

As part of an intergenerational project, the Strive young people from 21 Training have spent the last six weeks visiting their local day centre. Throughout the project, they have taken part in a variety of activities, shared stories and experiences, and led games with the day centre users.

It has been a fantastic opportunity to build connections across generations, learn from one another, and create lasting memories within the community.

Young people explored what social identity means, discussed the groups and communities they belong to, and reflected on why identity is an important part of who we are. They then brought their ideas to life by creating canvases that represented their unique identities.

A fantastic session filled with creativity, self-expression, and meaningful conversations.

It is deeply disappointing that the Petition of Concern has been used to block amendments seeking to raise the age of criminal responsibility.

This represents a misuse of a mechanism designed to protect minority rights. It should not be used to block progress on fundamental issues facing disadvantaged children and young people.

We urge MLAs who used the PoC to seriously reconsider. It will be our most disadvantaged children and young people who pay the price.

It was a busy week for our Tallaght Give & Take young people as they completed their final OCN module before their summer camp! 🏕️

Throughout the week, the group focused on developing teamwork, employability, and independent living skills. One challenge saw the young people tasked with shopping for and preparing lunch for five people on a budget of just €15.

The group chose to make fajitas, recognising them as a healthy, affordable alternative to takeaways while learning valuable budgeting and cooking skills along the way. 🌯👏

Some fantastic work has been taking place across the Heads Up (Our Generation) programme 🌟

At Ballyclare Secondary School, young people explored what mental health means to them individually and created action plans focused on improving and supporting their wellbeing. Ballyclare Secondary School - Official

In Castlereagh & Lisburn Heads Up at Rutledge Belfast, session two focused on stress and coping mechanisms. Young people identified positive coping strategies, explored personal stress triggers, and finished the session with a fun activity making stress balls. Rutledge Training

Meanwhile, at Springvale Belfast, session four focused on empathy. Through open group discussions and a “walking in someone else’s shoes” activity, young people explored the importance of understanding different perspectives and supporting others. Springvale Learning

Last week, our Cavan Give & Take group continued their boxing training, a great way for young people to stay active and develop new skills.

The group also took part in a range of wellbeing activities, including a BBQ and a fishing trip, giving everyone the chance to relax and enjoy some time outdoors.

It's fantastic to see young people getting involved in positive activities that support both their physical and mental wellbeing.
