Celebrating culture, connection and community this Good Relations Week! 💜

As part of Good Relations Week, Derry Give & Take recently hosted a fantastic multicultural event in partnership with the Western Trust 14+ Pathways Team and Unity Training’s HEAL Programme.

Planned by a group of young people, the event brought people together to celebrate different cultures through presentations, food, music, dance and crafts. With at least 40 people attending, it was a brilliant opportunity to share experiences, learn from one another and build stronger connections within the community. 🙌

A special thank you to Deputy Lord Mayor Catherine McDaid for joining us and giving our young people the opportunity to speak about issues that are important to them. 🗣️

The event was funded through Woven Housing Association’s Common Ground Project, which is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

This year’s Good Relations Week theme is INCLUDE and events like this show how creating opportunities to connect, listen and celebrate our differences can help everyone feel included. 💜

Good Relations Week | ACCEPT Good Relations Programme

To mark Good Relations Week, we wanted to take a look at our ACCEPT Good Relations Programme and, more importantly, hear directly from the young people who have taken part.

Through ACCEPT, young people have opportunities to meet new people, build connections, explore different perspectives and develop a greater understanding of the communities around them.

We asked some of the young people to share how they found their experience on the programme, what they enjoyed and what they took away from it.

Their feedback highlights the importance of creating spaces where young people feel included, listened to, respected and able to be themselves.

👏 Lisburn Give & Take have been busy!

Our young people from Lisburn volunteered at the Eikon Exhibition Centre for the annual School Summit with Volunteer Now.

They took on a range of roles throughout the day, including handing out programmes, directing attendees, supporting keynote speakers, managing social media, overseeing refreshments for staff and exhibitors, and helping with the clean-up and pack-down.

A massive thank you to Rosie and The Hygiene Bank Moira for supporting our young people with toiletries. 💜 Your support makes a real difference, helping our young people feel valued, supported and cared for.

This Good Relations Week, we're celebrating Building Bridges Ballymena, a programme that brings together care-experienced young people and young people who have recently arrived in Northern Ireland to build connections, explore different perspectives and strengthen community relationships.

Together, they're helping to create more inclusive, welcoming communities where everyone can thrive.

Include Youth young people from Mulroy college took part in a Stress management session where they looked at different types of stressful situations and techniques that can help them relax. Good relations start with how we relate to ourselves and others. Our stress management session gave young people the opportunity to explore how they recognise and manage stress, while considering how our emotions can impact the way we communicate and build relationships with those around us.

Connected for Change 2026 | Shared Learning Event

We recently brought together experts, practitioners and youth workers for our Connected for Change 2026 Shared Learning Event, focused on ending violence against women and girls.

It was a fantastic day of learning and discussion, with inspiring keynote speakers, an expert panel and interactive workshops exploring the different issues surrounding violence against women and girls and how we can work together to create change.

Last week, Include Youth and VOYPIC visited Stranmillis University College to speak with second-year teaching students about the experiences of young people in care.

It was a great day of learning and discussion, where we introduced our organisations and delivered workshops focused on care awareness and stress management.
