Weekly Round-Up 🌱

This week in Climate Conscious Communities, our groups were saving water, harvesting, repairing and rethinking waste through practical everyday action ✨

πŸ’§ At Windsor Women's Centre , the gardening group welcomed NI Water for World Refill Day and received a new water butt and refillable bottles. They also harvested strawberries, checked the greenhouse, spotted courgettes growing and saw the no-dig onions thrivingπŸ“

🧡 At Windsor Repair CafΓ©, participants continued working on clothing repairs and alterations, building practical skills to mend, adjust and reuse items they already own πŸ‘–

πŸ‘œ At Chrysalis Women's Centre the sewing group continued making reusable tote bags from recycled materials while exploring fast fashion, textile waste and sustainable swaps ✨

Small changes. Shared skills. Stronger communities πŸ’š

At our recent sessioWindsor Women's Centre with partner FareShare Northern Ireland, we explored how common surplus food items and cupboard essentials can be turned into simple, affordable meals.

Each year, UK households throw away 4.4 million tonnes of edible food – food worth Β£17.5 billion and responsible for around 16 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing food waste is one of the simplest ways we can cut our environmental impact while saving money at home.

From French toast to lentil bolognaise, the session was all about making food go further, making the most of surplus ingredients and discovering practical ways to reduce waste.

Small changes in the kitchen can make a big difference for our homes, our communities and our planet. πŸŒπŸ’š

Over the past few months, we've had the privilege of delivering Own My Life to incredible groups of women. πŸ’œ

These photos show our own Lisa and Aisling facilitating sessions throughout the programme creating space for reflection, learning, growth, and connection.

Own My Life is a truly transformational programme that supports women to recognise their strengths, explore their values, build confidence, and reclaim ownership of their lives. Every week, we are inspired by the courage, wisdom, and resilience of the women who attend.

We never take for granted the trust placed in us. It is an honour to walk alongside women on their journeys and witness the power of sisterhood in action. πŸ’—

We're also excited to be part of the new Inspired pilot programme, adapted from Own My Life for young girls, helping these important messages reach the next generation.

Thank you to every woman for sharing this journey with us. The sisterhood is strong. ✨

🌍 World Environment Day

This year’s theme reminds us that the Earth is sending urgent signals on climate change β€” and that the signals we choose to send back matter.

Today, we’re celebrating the women taking climate action in their communities every week through growing, repairing, reusing and sharing skills.

Climate Conscious Communities is about climate justice, amplifying women’s voices and creating practical change that starts close to home.

Led by women. Rooted in community. Taking action πŸ’š
