PeacePlayers - Northern Ireland "Children who play together can learn to live together"

PeacePlayers Northern Ireland (PP-NI) was established in 2002 to provide a rare opportunity for Catholic and Protestant youth to form friendships and advocate for reconciliation and shared society. PP-NI helps 2,000 youth each year challenge religious divisions, prejudice, and sectarianism through various sporting programmes.

RACE FOR PEACE IS BACK!

On Saturday 18 July, Alfie is taking on a 6-hour sim to support PeacePlayers Northern Ireland 🙌

We’re so proud to see Alfie Moore bring his incredible Race for Peace campaign back to raise vital funds for our organisation, helping ensure programming stays free for young people across Northern Ireland.

Today we’re reflecting on some of the conversations that made Summer Jam 2026 so special 🙌

DePauw student Tori chatted with Northern Irish writer and peacebuilder Tony Macaulay about how PeacePlayers uses sport, storytelling and good relations to bridge divides and build long‑lasting relationships. 🏀🤝🌎

These are the moments that capture what Summer Jam is all about.

More stories from Summer Jam 2026 coming soon 🤝

What he said 🤩

Across Summer Jam 2026, we caught up with participants, DePauw students, parents and board members to hear what they thought of the day.

When asked about his favourite part, this PeacePlayer, Boston, summed it up perfectly… all while hyping up his team 🙌

Keep an eye out as we continue to roll out more interviews from Summer Jam 2026 🤝

One week on from Summer Jam 2026 and we’re still thinking about the basketball, energy and laughter that filled Queen's PEC.

Hundreds of young people, alongside parents, volunteers, DePauw students and leaders, came together to play, laugh and celebrate how sport brings us together. 👏

Check out some of our brilliant photos from the day!

Huge thank you to everyone who made Summer Jam 2026 a success, in particular, we would like to thank the Housing Executive whose funding allowed this event to run for free for all participants.

Just a few days ago at Summer Jam, hundreds of young people from different backgrounds, communities, cultures and traditions from across NI came together to play, laugh, learn and celebrate what connects us.

The scenes from Belfast last night stand in stark contrast to that spirit.

At PeacePlayers, we see every day that Northern Ireland is at its best when people choose respect over division, understanding over fear, and relationships over hostility. The vast majority of people here want safe, welcoming and peaceful communities for everyone.

As tensions continue, let’s support those working to build bridges, look out for one another, and choose calm, compassion and peace.

Parents, young people, DePauw University students, volunteers, and even the Lord Mayor of Belfast… Summer Jam 2026 had everyone. 👏

Councillor Róis-Máire Donnelly, Lord Mayor of Belfast, joined in on the fun and tested out her basketball skills before chatting to Andrew, a student visiting from , about why events like Summer Jam matter so much. 🙌

We’re also grateful to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, whose funding ensured the day ran at no cost to participants.

We’re still working through our photos and media, so keep an eye out as we share more from Summer Jam 2026. 📸

Thank you to everyone who came out and made it what it was. 🏀🤝🌎

One day to go until Summer Jam 2026! 🎉

We’re really looking forward to coming together to celebrate another fantastic term of our Bridging Divides Programme (BDP).

A huge thank you to the Housing Executive, whose support allows us to run events like this free of charge, and to DePauw University, whose visiting students raise incredible funds for our organisation and play a hands‑on role in empowering our young people during their visit. 🙌
