Since 1984 Crossroads has provided respite care for carers, who provide care for an elderly, frail, ill or disabled friend or relative. Crossroads has two main charitable projects; Crossroads In Your Prime Project and Cro

ssroads Young Carers Project. Crossroads In Your Prime project aims to attract mature people who are willing to support and encourage elderly people who may be alone due to a bereavement or inadequate support. Elderly people may be house bound and unable to access available local services and as a result are at risk of exclusion, isolation and loneliness. Isolation and loneliness can lead to depression and ill health amongst elderly people. Through connecting with volunteers the elderly will build their confidence, reduce isolation and as a result improve their health. In turn our volunteers will also have an opportunity to contribute their skills and experience to planning, developing and delivering this project.

‘In Your Prime’ is currently recruiting volunteers of all ages who would be willing to help and support elderly people. The Project will provide training and development for all volunteers who register to get involved. Volunteering can range from: -

■ Telephone Service
■ Events
■ Fundraising
■ Befriending Service
■ Emergency Transport
■ Intergenerational Activities

Interested in More Information About Volunteering? Please contact the ‘In Your Prime’ office on telephone 028 9181 4363 or email [email protected]. We will be happy to answer any queries or send you more information. Crossroads Young Carers Project were the first charity in Northern Ireland to recognise the vital role children play in caring for an ill/disabled family member on a daily basis. Crossroads Young Carers Project’s aim is to provide support for children who ‘care’ for another member of their family who may be ill, disabled, have mental health problems or an addiction to alcohol or drugs. The aims of the Young Carers Project are:

■ To raise awareness about the issue of Young Carers amongst health, education, social work and leisure agencies
■ To identify Young Carers
■ To offer support services to Young Carers and their families
■ To reduce social exclusion for Young Carers
■ To reduce physical, emotional and social problems among Young Carers

Yesterday, one of our amazing support workers, Suzanne took some of our incredible Young Carers to Ark Open Farm for a well-deserved day out 🐑🐣

It was great to get the boys together for the day, giving them the chance to have fun, make new friends, and enjoy a well-earned break from their caring responsibilities.

Thank you for helping us make days like these happen✨

🎉 Congratulations to Paul, one of our incredible Wellbeing Officers, on an amazing 5 years with Crossroads! 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

Paul brings a wealth of experience, a great sense of adventure, and plenty of stories to the team. From a 40-year career in banking to becoming the oldest person in Northern Ireland to achieve an open sea lifeguard qualification, he’s also a commercial boat skipper, part-time Forestry Ranger, and an occasional film extra! 🎬 (Did you spot him on blue lights ?👀🚔)

💡 Fun fact: Paul even dressed up his car and took on the role of chauffeur for a client’s daughter on her wedding day! 🚙💍 Just another example of how Paul goes above and beyond for the people he supports!

We’re so grateful to have you as part of the Crossroads family, Paul. Thank you for everything you do, and here’s to many more years of making a difference! 💙
