Did you catch this evening’s episode of Springwatch? 🐦

Springwatch shone a spotlight on Curlew conservation work on Lough Erne.

With Curlew numbers down by 82% since 1987, helping these remarkable birds has never been more important. Our teams are out locating nests, monitoring breeding pairs and protecting nesting sites to give Curlew the best possible chance of raising their young.

Every nest counts, and every chick matters.

It’s World Swift Day! 🐦💫

Learn more about the incredible Swift! 👉
Swifts are among the most extraordinary birds on Earth, famous for spending almost their entire lives in the air. They eat, drink, mate, and even sleep whilst flying!

A young Swift can go up to three years without ever touching the ground and many stay airborne for 10 months or more continuously! This incredible lifestyle has evolved over millions of years…

Sadly, Swift numbers in the UK have declined dramatically in recent decades due to habitat loss and changing environments.

Please support our work to help protect Swifts and other threatened species and visit our Swift Mapper webpage to learn more about how you can help conserve these incredible birds. 🐦💙

This Volunteer Week, we want to thank all our volunteers who do so much for nature. We couldn’t do it without you!

In Northern Ireland, we have over 630 volunteers, who together over the last year have completed 46,765 hours of volunteer time to RSPB NI. From supporting nettle digs, helping out on reserves, habitat management and much more.

Thank you to each and every one of you.

Sandra and Trevor won the Most Impactful Newcomers at the RSPB’s President’s Awards last week.

A huge congratulations to them, their generosity and warmth have made an incredible impact in such a short time.

From opening their farm to volunteers as part of the Giving Corncrake a Home project, to sharing home-cooked meals and endless kindness, they created a space where people felt welcomed, valued and inspired.

Their contribution has already supported vital Corncrake conservation work—supplying habitat materials and bringing volunteers together in a truly special way.

Thank you both for your generosity, spirit and wholehearted support—this recognition is so richly deserved.

Up next this Volunteer Week, we're sharing the award for Volunteer Team of the Year, which went to our Youth Network for Nature team!

This inspiring community of young people are already making a powerful impact - giving over 11,000 hours to conservation in just one year.

From hands-on habitat work to leading their own conservation days, their passion, teamwork and commitment shine through in everything they do.

Thank you for giving us hope for the future, this award is so well deserved.
