The scenes we've witnessed on the Stewartstown Road over the last few weeks have left many people in the community shocked and deeply concerned.

Speaking with local residents and business owners today, it's clear there is widespread frustration. One business owner criticised the lack of parental responsibility and suggested that Glider services should be suspended from 4pm at weekends, claiming they are bringing groups of young people into the area. Others questioned where the parents or guardians of some of the children involved were, with reports that some appeared to be as young as 7 or 8 years old.

Many residents say enough is enough and believe the community needs to come together to tackle the ongoing anti-social behaviour.

Absolute scum

Police have closed off a section of the Stewartstown Road in west Belfast due to “large crowds” congregating in the area, with one councillor describing the scenes as “absolute chaos”.

Parents need to step up and not be turning a blind eye
