🚨 JGOLI general knowledge quiz 🚨

📅 Saturday 17th October 2026

🏩iNorth Belfast Memorial Orange Hall.

Lodges are invited to enter a team of four, teams must be made up of at least two boys or primary school age with a maximum of two boys of secondary school age.

The general knowledge quiz is always a fantastic competition and participation in this competition counts towards the McCrea Cup competition.

It would be great to see as many there as possible, the more the merrier! 👍

The Junior Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland warmly congratulates the Junior Orange Women’s Association of Ireland on plans for their Centenary Parade in Portadown on 29th May 2027.

We wish Worthy President, Sister Gillespie, her officers and everyone involved every success as they prepare for such a significant occasion.

We look forward to boys’ lodges from across Ireland joining them as guests on the day and helping mark 100 years of Junior Orangeism for girls.

Every good wish to JOWAI for the months of preparation ahead.

Portadown to Host Centenary Parade as Junior Orange Women’s Association Marks 100 Years

The Junior Orange Women’s Association of Ireland (JOWAI) will celebrate its centenary in 2027, with a major parade in Portadown on Saturday 29 May marking 100 years since the first Junior Orange warrants for girls were issued.

Portadown holds a special place in the Association’s story.

JOWAI’s beginnings can be traced to Sister Mary S.A. McDonald, a member of a Ladies’ Orange Lodge in the Portadown District, whose proposal in 1926 led to the establishment of an organisation for younger female members of the Orange tradition. The first Junior Orange warrants for girls were issued the following year.

A century later, the Association continues to grow, with recent years bringing a significant increase in membership and the formation of new lodges across the country.

That growth has introduced a new generation of girls to an organisation centred on friendship, heritage, community involvement and its enduring motto, “Truth & Loyalty.”

The Centenary Parade will bring members, supporters and friends together from across Ireland and beyond, while returning the celebrations to an area closely connected with the Association’s earliest history.

It will also recognise the generations of girls and adult members who have shaped JOWAI, together with the support of the Association of Loyal Orangewomen of Ireland, throughout its first century.

Further details of the Centenary Parade and other events planned for 2027 will be announced in the months ahead.

Excitement is building for the first ever JGOLI Residential Weekend!

From 13–15 November 2026, secondary school age members will head to The Jungle, Moneymore for a weekend of adventure, friendship and faith, with activities including Jungle Olympics, laser tag and group games.

Places are limited. Booking enquiries should be made through your junior lodge and county.

Today, on Orange Victims Day, we remember with solemn respect the 343 Brethren and 1 Sister who were murdered during the Troubles.

Behind every name was a family, a lodge, a community and a life taken far too soon.

The Junior Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland honours their memory and stands in remembrance with all those who continue to carry the pain of their loss.

Their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Today we recognise the important contribution made by the young men and women of the Orange family.

It’s fantastic to see our Junior Lodges continuing to grow, with young people getting involved, making friends and developing the confidence and skills that will serve them well in the years ahead.

A special thank you also goes to the many volunteers who give their time to provide leadership, encouragement and support. Their commitment makes such a difference.

There were some brilliant photographs submitted this year, capturing everything from the bands and parades to the smiles, friendships and excitement that make the Twelfth such a special day for our junior members.

And on International Youth Day, they’re a pretty good reminder that the next generation isn’t waiting in the wings – they’re already very much part of our Institution. 🍊

Over the twelfth our junior members have been on both sides the camera, capturing some wonderful moments from this year’s Twelfth celebrations. From the colour and pageantry to the friendships and traditions that make our Institution so special, they have produced some truly outstanding photographs.
