Last week, MindWise was delighted to support a fantastic fundraising event organised by Carly Dunne and hosted by Drumbo Presbyterian Church.

In partnership with Macmillan, the event brought Action Cancer’s Big Bus to Drumbo, offering vital breast screening appointments and general health checks to the local community.

The event was a huge success, raising over £1,300, well exceeding the £600 target!

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and to Drumbo Presbyterian Church for hosting such a meaningful day.

MindWise was proud to attend the Mental Health at Work: Building Healthier Workplaces in Northern Ireland event at the NI Assembly, hosted by the All-Party Group on Mental Health.

Our team joined policymakers, practitioners and partners to discuss practical ways to support mental wellbeing in the workplace. With contributions from Health Minister Mike Nesbitt, Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald, and Mental Health Champion Professor Siobhan O’Neill, the event highlighted both the urgent challenges and the opportunities for meaningful change.

From the need for cross-departmental action to stark insights on funding and rising mental health need, the message was clear: improving workplace mental health must be a shared priority.

As a key partner in the Mental Health APG, we’re committed to strengthening engagement between policymakers and those working on the ground. We look forward to continuing this work when we resume the secretariat role later this year.

We were delighted to take part in the interactive workshop “Navigating Conversations About Migration” alongside our dedicated NIAAS staff and volunteers.

Participants included Leken Abassi and Carolyn Hall (Appropriate Adults), as well as volunteers Stephen Gibson and Alessandra Collura. The session was expertly delivered by Katy Allen from Act Now, in collaboration with Migrant Centre NI.

The workshop explored:
✅ Trauma-informed approaches when engaging in sensitive discussions
✅ Practical techniques to confidently navigate conversations around migration
✅ Building awareness and empathy when supporting vulnerable individuals

This valuable training will further strengthen the skills and confidence of our team, helping them provide informed, compassionate support to vulnerable individuals detained in police custody.

A big thank you to Act Now and Migrant Centre NI for delivering such an insightful and engaging session!

A great morning at our Downpatrick Resource Centre 💙

Our group had a fantastic time getting creative, making candles and designing beautiful button art together. Moments like these are so important for building connection, confidence and wellbeing within our community.

A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped make it such an enjoyable session.

We were delighted to welcome the Lost Boys Golf Society in today to present a cheque to MindWise 👏

Their annual charity day, held at Edenmore Golf Club on 10th May, was a huge success, raising an incredible £7,984.15 in support of MindWise.

A fantastic achievement and a testament to the generosity and community spirit of everyone involved. This funding will go a long way in supporting mental health services across Northern Ireland.
