‼️ 👀 We are hiring a project and communications officer ‼️
🔬 The post-holder is primarily responsible for creating and delivering communications for projects across the organisation, to support building internal and external HIRANI relationships with stakeholders, and potential collaborators in industry, government, academia and health institutions.

🔬 This will include delivering on the internal and external communications strategy for HIRANI.

🔬 Essential Criteria

• An outgoing personality with a genuine passion for connecting people and communications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including content creation for multiple channels.
• An Honours degree with a media, communications or journalism component or equivalent industry experience
• An excellent ‘news sense’.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a broader team, recognising the importance of integrated communications.
• Attention to detail with good organisational skills.
• IT literacy – knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint and a highly professional approach in all your communications, both internal and external, are essential
• Ability to act on initiative, to work under pressure and exercise judgment.
• Right to work in the UK (we cannot offer any sponsorship)

🔬 Desirable:
2+ years in a similar role
Photography and videography and digital media skills
Experience building a CRM
Experience using graphic design tools
Skills in Using AI for communication
A background in health and life sciences (not essential)

‼️ Location: Hybrid - A mixture of working from home and in office in central Belfast 2-3 days per week and willingness to travel to meetings within and outside Northern Ireland on occasion.

‼️ Salary: £28,000

‼️ Closing Date for applications: 12 noon on Monday 12th October

‼️ Date for Interview: Week beginning 19th October

‼️ Anticipated start-date: Week beginning 3rd November

‼️ Duration: Fixed term until August 2027 (with the intention to extend)

‼️ Reports to Chief Communications Officer

👐 The programme aims to accelerate the development and commercialisation of new products, services and processes, while strengthening innovation links between the UK and Singapore.

👐 Funding is available for collaborative projects that have clear commercial potential and support business growth, providing an opportunity for UK organisations to access international expertise, develop new partnerships and explore opportunities in the Singapore market. Take part in an understanding Inclusion in Health and Social Care Research in Northern Ireland: Training Needs Survey.
Health and Social Care Northern Ireland Research & Development Division would like to invite you to contribute to a training needs survey helping to develop our understanding of current research practices relating to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and to identify how equity and inclusion are embedded throughout the research lifecycle.

The intended outcome from this survey is to identify learning needs and to develop training and resources which focus on how best to embed EDI practices into health and social care research.

They are keen to hear from:
• People who contribute to the design or delivery of health and social care research in NI, including academic researchers.
• Staff who lead on or help to deliver health and social care research studies.
The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and closes at 5pm Friday 16th October 2026

Join a Northern Ireland Public Health Research Network (NIPHRN) webinar ‘Moving beyond mapping complexity: towards actionable evidence for decision-making’, with Claire Griffiths, Professor of Obesity & Co Director of the Obesity Institute, Leeds Beckett University.

Claire will focus on understanding how social, environmental and structural characteristics of places interact to influence population health outcomes, and how this evidence can better inform policy and practice. Her research draws on interdisciplinary and complex systems perspectives, with a particular interest in moving beyond simply mapping complexity to understand how complex systems evidence can be translated into actionable insights that support real-world decision-making.

‼️ Do you have a question about regulation? Last week, Mark Grumbridge CSci FTOPRA Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency Head of Clinical Investigations, and Louise Blakemore, MHRA Diagnostics Lead, held Surgery Sessions with stakeholders in Northern Ireland.

🥼 The sessions provided an opportunity for participants to discuss specific regulatory questions directly with MHRA technical experts, helping them understand relevant requirements and navigate regulatory processes.
