A Great Big Thank You for No Gas Caverns in Islandmagee!

Our thanks are huge, for every person who has supported the No Gas Caverns campaign. Your support and donations have helped us to protect our waters, coastline, flora, fauna etc from the potential impacts of new fossil fuel infrastructure which would’ve created 7 skyscraper sized gas caverns under Larne Lough.

Every community gathering, auction, Christmas craft, raffle ticket, barn dance, clothes swap, coffee morning, boots on the beach, donations have meant the world to us and we couldn’t have done without you!

Thank you.

See you Sunday with our friends No Gas Caverns to say thank you.

When our Lough is under attack, what do we do? Stand up fight back!

A week ago we walked with residents and communities from around the Lough, grand parents, parents, children, artists, musicians, nature protectors and many many more groups, campaigners who are all witnesses to the decline of our largest fresh water lake.
At our march end we were met with a flotilla of boats led by those who used to fish on the Lough at Ardboe Cross. It was an emotional moment.

A brilliant community led event filled with determination, truth, love and the spirit of resistance - it was a real honour to be there, to be part of the Lough fighting back.

Bernadette McAliskey said “communities know what the problems are and what the solutions are, they don’t need to be told by others and they are tired of being spoken down to by others...”

Like the march that raised awareness of the threat of lignite mining 40 years ago this march won’t be forgotten either.
