Job Title: Heritage Project Co-Ordinator
Pay Grade: NJC SCP 18 £31,537 p/a upon completion of 6-month probationary period.
Pension Contribution: Employee Contribution: 5%; Employer Contribution: 3%. Option to opt out of this arrangement.
Hours & Place of Work: Full-time, in person, permanent 35 hours p/w, based at the Cara-Friend Office, 23-31 Waring Street, Belfast, BT1 2DX. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required, with time off in lieu.
Holiday Entitlement: 25 Elective and 12 Public Holidays. The leave year runs from 1st April to 31st March.
Probation: This post is subject to a six-month probationary period.
Core Purposes of the Role:
- The Heritage Project Co-Ordinator will be responsible for co-ordination and ex*****on of the ‘Dear Friend’ heritage project.
- This project will encompass a range of outputs including the collection of audio-visual oral testimonies, organising monthly heritage focused volunteer days, public heritage events, and the design, production, and touring of an exhibition.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- To ensure the vision of the organisation is upheld in all undertakings and outputs.
- Liaise with professionals and partners from across the Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums Sector, as well as relevant academic institutions.
- Plan and deliver monthly heritage volunteer days, as well as occasionally public heritage events.
- Source and support professionals hired for project deliverables, including an oral historian and a theatre company.
- Act as a point of contact for project participants, as well as the broader community.
- To understand and abide by the policies of the organisation including Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality, and Protection of Children and other vulnerable individuals.
- To carry out such other duties as agreed with the Director.
Essential Desirable Experience, Knowledge, and Expertise:
- Two-years experience in a comparable role pertaining to heritage and public history.
- Experience in liaising with professionals from GLAM, academic, and arts organisations for partnered project delivery.
- Experience of planning and delivery of an exhibition.
- Knowledge of ethical frameworks for collection and handling of sensitive personal testimonies.
- Experience in working in the community and voluntary sector.
- Experience of delivering public history events.
- Strong knowledge of local LGBTQIA+ Heritage, including the history of Cara-Friend as an organisation.
- Experience of using social media platforms including Meta platforms for an organisation, either in a professional or voluntary role.
- Experience of using Google Drive software.
- Public speaking experience.
Education & Qualifications:
- Good standard of education to include GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade C or Equivalent.
- Educated to a degree-level in a relevant subject.
