The Eglantine Community Garden, or the “Anarchist Plot” began life at a visioning day in Belfast for community, peace, social justice and environmental activists in February 04. We now have a number of veg beds, a beautiful array of flowers, about 20 willow trees and some soft fruit. The garden has a community atmosphere, and neighbors who live in the nearby streets are using the garden as a relaxing place to sit.

🌸Garden get-together this evening🌸

We're very lucky to be situated in a multi-cultural neighbourhood of Belfast - the different ideas, influences, stories, and cultures that people bring to the garden enrich it massively.

To show solidarity with any members of our community who may be feeling worried or frightened at this time we'll be meeting in the garden at 6 this evening. We'll have a gazebo in case it rains, plus tea, coffee, and some snacks.

As ever, ALL are welcome ✊

We had another productive day in the garden yesterday. We cleaned the alleyways around the garden, weeded the vegetable planters and planted some veg, and built new pallet compost bins.

Thanks very much to everyone who came to our wildflower planting day on Saturday.

We planted 140 perennial wildflower plugs, some seeds and meadow grasses, as well as some jostaberry bushes. We can't wait to see it all grow this summer.

This was paid for in part by donations to our Gofundme fundraiser, so a huge thanks to everyone who's contributed to that. If you'd like to make a donation to help with our future projects the link is in the comments.

In case you didn't know, we're on Instagram now too, just search for Eglantine Community Garden

Our wildflower planting day is coming up this Saturday, we'll be planting about 140 perennial wildflower plugs, seeds, plus a mix of meadow grasses. We'll also be doing some prep work on our wildflower areas such as weeding and putting up some new fencing to protect the new plants.

If any of this sounds interesting then feel free to come along!
