Thereโ€™s more than one way to build a family. ๐Ÿ’›

If having children biologically isnโ€™t possible, there are different paths you might choose to explore:

โœจ Fertility treatments such as medication, IVF, ICSI or IUI can help some people conceive.

๐ŸŒฑ Surrogacy can offer another route to parenthood, with someone carrying a baby on your behalf.

๐Ÿก Adoption means becoming the legal parent of a child and giving them a permanent family.

๐Ÿ’› Fostering is different. Youโ€™ll care for children who canโ€™t live with their birth families, offering the stability, guidance and support they need. There are different types of fostering, from emergency and short-term care to providing a child with a long-term home. Foster parents also receive an allowance and ongoing support.

Every journey to family life looks different, and itโ€™s about finding the path thatโ€™s right for you.

One simple goal: to change a life. ๐Ÿ’™

"I donโ€™t care how old the kid is; I just want to change a life."

For Tim, fostering has never been about age, background or expectations. It's about being there for a child when they need support, stability and someone who believes in them.

After more than 12 years as a foster parent, Tim knows that every child is different, but each one deserves the opportunity to feel safe, valued and part of a family.
His message is a powerful reminder that fostering is about making a difference, one child, one moment and one life at a time. ๐Ÿ’™

From bearded biker to foster dad: Tim's story proves there's no such thing as a "typical" foster parent. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ๏ธ

When Tim and his wife Claire started their fostering journey, they had no idea where it would lead.

More than 12 years later, they've welcomed children of different ages into their home, adopted one of the children they fostered, and continue to provide a loving home for young people who need it most.

As a biker, former doorman and proud foster dad, Tim is passionate about challenging stereotypes and encouraging others not to rule themselves out.
"Don't write yourself off as a foster parent just because you don't fit the conventional demographic. You'll have something to bring to these children, regardless of your background, age or gender."

His story is a powerful reminder that fostering isn't about fitting a mould. It's about having the commitment, compassion and willingness to make a difference in a child's life.

What made Steve decide to become a foster parent? ๐Ÿ’™

In this clip from the Let's Talk About Fostering Podcast, Steve shares how retiring early led him to think about how he could give back and make a difference to the lives of children and young people.

Having worked in schools throughout his career, finding the right fostering agency was important to him. FCA's strong Ofsted ratings gave him confidence that he'd be joining an organisation with high standards and the support needed to succeed.

Steve also talks openly about the fostering assessment process, explaining that it took around five to six months from enquiry to approval, and why the journey was well worth it.

Can I foster if I have a small child? Absolutely. ๐Ÿ’™

One of the most common myths about fostering is that you can't become a foster parent if you already have young children of your own.

In reality, many fostering families have children living at home. Every household is unique, and the most important thing is being able to meet the needs of all the children in your home and create a safe, supportive environment where everyone can thrive.

With the right support and careful matching, fostering can be a positive experience for the whole family.

What happens when a foster child leaves your home? ๐Ÿ’™

In this clip from the Let's Talk About Fostering Podcast, one foster parent shares the lasting impact fostering can have on both children and families.
While every journey is different, some relationships continue long after a child moves on. Over time, bonds are built, memories are made, and connections grow so strong that children become part of the family.

Fostering is about more than providing a home. It's about sharing experiences, learning from one another and helping children feel they belong.
Sometimes, the end of a placement isn't the end of the relationship at all.
