Gestalt is neuroscience-relevant
Because of its roots, theory and methodology, Gestalt stands at the crossroad of talk therapies and somatic therapies. The trainings we run are neuroscience informed, and our trainers carry qualifications and experience in Somatic Experiencing. Louis Cozolino in his book 'The Neuroscience of Psychotherapy' describes Gestalt as uniquely "relevant to neural integration".
An approach for all sorts of professions
These workshops, and the Gestalt approach generally, offer support to those working in a wide variety contexts including: counselling and psychotherapy, youth and community work, nursing /health and social care, coaching, body work, pastoral work, education, mediation, and many other fields where relationship is at the centre of the process…
Where to next?
This introductory workshop is a stand-alone event, and indeed for some people that is all they require. But there have been people who find the approach a good fit for them, and a missing piece in their therapeutic skill set. And so they might use the introductory workshop as a gateway to applying for our longer course. Our Gestalt training can also be the door to our longer, 2-year part time course leading to the Gestalt Practitioner Diploma. This longer course may open the access to Year 5 of the accredited Master programme with the Gestalt Institute of Ireland, Carlow.
The longer course...
People who attend these introductory workshops will get a chance to ask questions about the 2-year programme, and if they are interested, they will be sent an application pack to complete. There is an interviewing process.
The two year course is described on our website, at https://www.gestaltbelfast.org/project/gestalt-practitioners-diploma.
The course consists of 9 monthly weekend workshops, a 4-day residential (in Corrymeela) and a live assessment workshop at the end of each training year.
Please note that the calendar of training at the bottom of that web page is provisional, and the first few dates will be used as introductory workshops, until a viable group has assembled to start the course.
