Last night, we joined Barnardo's Northern Ireland at Stormont for the launch of its 2027 manifesto, Every Child, Every Chance.

It was valuable to hear directly from young people and families affected by poverty about the changes they want to see in the next Assembly mandate.

Many of the issues raised reflect the Equality Commissions priorities, including tackling poverty and inequality, removing barriers in education and improving access to affordable childcare and flexible working.

Thank you to Barnardo’s for organising such an important and timely event and for ensuring that the voices of those most affected were at the heart of the discussion.

Yesterday we held our ‘Ending racism. Advancing equality. What needs to change in the curriculum?’ event at the Shankill Shared Women’s Centre.

It was an opportunity to bring together academics, educationalists and representatives with lived experience to consider practical opportunities for curriculum reform that can help tackle racism and prejudice while preparing pupils for life in an increasingly diverse and globalised society.

We would like to thank all our attendees and especially our speakers Peter Hutchinson, Dr Rebecca Loader, Dr Chris Jenkins, Livingstone Thompson and Inioluwa Olaosebikan.

A fantastic day at Belfast Mela, celebrating the colour, culture, and communities in Northern Ireland.

Our Chief Commissioner, Geraldine McGahey, was delighted to meet the Consul General of India, alongside lots of great conversations at our stand throughout the day.

Our Senior Policy Officer Paul Noonan visited Dungannon where he joined a community event litter pick led by Maubere NI with the Timorese community.

In the afternoon, Paul spoke about the racial equality and good relations work of the Equality Commission at an event commemorating the 51st Anniversary of Forcas Armadas da Liberta Cao Nacional de Timor-Leste at the Junction. Among the speakers pictured at the afternoon event are Francisco Mok of Maubere NI Solutions, the Consul General for Timor-Leste, Abreu Ximenes Correia and Lilian Seenoi-Barr, CEO of North West Migrants Forum.
