Ready Steady Cook! 🫑🧅🍲👨‍🍳

Our patrols were tasked with whipping up a culinary masterpiece tonight. After a bit of a challenge to win ingredients for their main course, the fires were lit and the Scouts set to work prepping their meals.

Eagle produced fajita bowls, with Wolf presenting a made from scratch Bolognese. Both patrols then made a banoffee pie, but with their own spin put on it.

The meals were incredible, with the highlights being Eagle's fajita bowl (which would put Boojum to shame) and Wolf's Banoffee (they caramelised their bananas with some lemon juice, with some excellent presentation to boot).

If tonight is anything to go by, they'll be eating like royalty on Summer Camp!

It’s getting to that time of year again, the end of Scouting year is approaching and soon we will be taking in new members - for all our sections ✨

The Cubs making the most of the sunny weather ☀️ with a hike to Lady Dixon tonight 🥾

They will all sleep well tonight!

Meanwhile, our Ventures are continuing with their more relaxed programme, catering for those still in the depths of exams. Soon they'll start final prep for their annual Summer Camp.

A busy few weeks ahead, with Cubs heading on Summer Camp next weekend and the Scouts in the Mournes the following weekend. Before that though, our leaders will be meeting for a Group Council next week, to plan the coming year.

Our Scouts were practicing some rope work tonight, looking at different knots. After which they undertook some engineering, building Da Vinci Bridges: self-supporting structures with no lashings at all. A couple of the Scouts braves the structures and made it the whole way across!

Over the course of the year, the Scouts have been working towards different levels of their Pioneering Adventure Skills, with badges presented soon.

Tonight our Scouts were designing and building their own flagpoles, with Eagle Patrol's effort being a definite highlight, as you can see!

We also awarded some Adventures Skills badges, with a lot of our Scouts receiving their Level 4 Camping. Next week we'll be working on some pioneering. That will tie up some loose ends (pun intended) for some Pioneering Adventure Skills badges.
