🎲🍕 Feeling Anxious Campaign – Board Games & Pizza!

As part of our Feeling Anxious campaign, we hosted a Board Games & Pizza event on 23 September, open to young people and staff from Belfast Central Mission.

There was plenty to get involved in, including making stress balls, mindful colouring, word searches and a few games of pool. We also enjoyed some pizza and refreshments throughout the afternoon! 🍕

Participants were able to take away a range of mental health promotional materials and resources, helping to raise awareness and encourage conversations around mental wellbeing.

The event also gave us the opportunity to hear directly from young people and staff about other activities they would like to see in the future, helping us shape our upcoming events!

🚦 Traffic Light System – Parent Support Service

One of our parents recently shared how a traffic light device, purchased by their Parent Support Worker, has made a real difference at home.

“I’ve been using the traffic light device with my kids every day and it’s been such a useful tool for helping my kids transition from one thing to another more smoothly.

It’s also been great for getting my kids to tidy up and manage other everyday tasks, such as getting dressed and undressed.

We turn it into a bit of a game, and the kids really enjoy trying to get the task done before the traffic lights turn red – we call it ‘Beat the Lights!’

I’ve definitely seen a big improvement in helping to manage meltdowns, as it’s visual and turns everyday demands into more of a game.”

It’s lovely to hear how a visual tool like this, can make everyday routines feel more manageable and fun for both parents and children. 💛

Staff, volunteers and their families recently gathered at Grosvenor House for a good old get-together!

As well as enjoying lunch together, we had balloon modeling, bouncy castles, Lego landmarks workshops and lots more on what proved to be a day enjoyed by all.

Thanks goes to our BCM connections team for once again organising this for our staff and volunteers.
