Our Story
We’re Belfast Marrow, a group of Queen’s University students who work with Anthony Nolan to help save the lives of people with blood cancer and blood disorders.
We’re one of over 50 Marrow groups at universities across the UK. We run donor recruitment events on campus and across Northern Ireland, to give 16-30 year olds the opportunity to join the lifesaving stem cell register. On average, 1 in 100 of the students we sign up will be matched to a patient one day, and will go on to donate stem cells to potentially save a stranger’s life. It costs £60 to add each individual to the stem cell register, so fundraising is also an important part of what we do.
We’re a friendly and inclusive group of volunteers, and we’re always happy to welcome new volunteers at any of our events.
