Our Communities Team recently attended the Celebration Event for the Fountain Estate Somme Programme at the The Heritage Tower Museum

The event provided an excellent opportunity to hear directly from the young people involved, who delivered a fantastic overview of their experiences and learning throughout the programme. They reflected on the educational workshops they participated in, as well as their residential visit to significant historical sites in France and Belgium.

It was inspiring to see the impact the programme has had on the participants. Through exploring the history and legacy of the Somme, the young people demonstrated increased historical awareness, cultural understanding, and personal reflection. The programme also fostered a strong sense of community pride and connection among all those involved.

These events are supported by the Department for Communities Programme, and reflect our commitment to the NI Executive Together Building a United Community strategy.

What a wonderful information session on Friday 21 August 2026 at the Ards Arts Centre in Newtownards!

It was a great opportunity for people in the local area to connect with services and organisations available in their community, find out more about the support on offer, and make valuable connections.

The event was delivered in partnership with Radius Housing and the Housing Executive through the programme, helping to bring local support and services together for the community.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the session such a success!
