Grainne Ashe is a mother from Northern Ireland who brought her family to Adams Camp, Nantucket, USA in July 2015 where they had a life changing experience, not just for her six year old daughter Rose (who is on the autistic spectrum) but for every member of their family. Grainne was so inspired by the American camp that she felt she had to replicate the model here in Northern Ireland for more fami
lies to experience. A multidisciplinary team of therapists provide goal based therapy to small groups or one-to-one children on the autism spectrum from aged 4-14 years. 5-children, 5-therapists, 5-days....six hours of therapy per day, 30 hours per week. The programmes focus on each child's individual needs providing a coordinated, goal centred therapy which is unique to Adam's Camp. Family's play a huge part in the Adams camp experience as they believe that if you have a child with special needs then this effects the entire family. Therefore we provide a siblings camp, where brothers and sisters can enjoy adventures, activities, make new friends and just have fun. The parents are not forgotten they can attend support workshops and the all important, much needed respite in a beautiful location. Adam's camp is successful because it meets the needs of the individual and their family in a camp setting, where healing and hope are contagious. The first Adam's camp NI was launched in the summer of 2016 and since then it has grown to provide its bespoke therapy to 70 families from NI and beyond. Early 2020 seen the launch of their new community based, day therapy camps called WindRose Community Camps.
