In 2021, Ronnie noticed that he was sweating a lot at night, often having to change pyjamas three times. Identifying a big loss in his weight, Ronnie visited his GP who could not see anything wrong with him. Finally, he went to Irvinestown Health Centre and the doctor there signposted him to Belfast City Hospital where they took a marrow biopsy, which detected lymphoma. In 2023, Ronnie started six weeks of chemotherapy treatment, and he began to feel well again. However, in 2024, his cancer returned and since then he often experiences pains and temperatures. Ronnie is on chemotherapy tablets and is in and out of hospital regularly.
The opening of our charity’s Cancer Support Centre in Fermanagh came at a time when Ronnie was looking for cancer information, support, and a social outlet. Reading about the Centre in the paper, Ronnie was one of the first visitors through the door in June 2025 and since then, has been visiting every week and encouraging others to pop in. Ronnie enjoys the warm and friendly volunteers and staff and benefits greatly from speaking with the experienced Nurses about his cancer journey🤍
To help celebrate our centre's first anniversary in just a handful of days, we’re inviting people, families, supporters, and businesses to join us at our Celebration Coffee Morning. An opportunity for us to say Hello and Thanks.
