Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster Northern Irelandโ€™s Largest Rural Youth Organisation With 3,600+ Members ๐Ÿค  YFCU has over 3,000 members aged 12- 30 years old.

The Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) is an association of local clubs run by young people for young people. It welcomes members from all communities - the only qualification for membership is an interest in rural life. There are currently 58 active clubs in Northern Ireland. Ellie Brown joined the YFCU Headquarters team in April 2026 as our Membership & Funding Executive.

Having studied Agriculture at CAFRE Greenmount College and been a member of Donaghadee YFC for many years, Ellie brought a wealth of farming and YFCU experience to the role ๐Ÿšœ

Working alongside Membership Development Manager Roberta, Ellie supports the recruitment and retention of members across Northern Ireland, while also researching and exploring funding opportunities for both YFCU and our individual clubs. Outside of work, Ellie enjoys spending time with family and friends ๐Ÿ’š

Last week, YFCU vice presidents James Morrison and Victoria Minford, alongside our Membership Development Manager, Roberta Simmons, spoke with Claire about the opportunities YFCU provides for young people aged 12โ€“30 and some of the challenges facing young people and rural communities today.

It was a very a positive discussion around rural isolation and the vital role Young Farmersโ€™ Clubs play in bringing young people together, building friendships and creating opportunities to develop skills and get involved in agriculture, sport, competitions, trips and a wide range of activities.

25 YFCU members embarked on a Canadian agricultural study tour at the beginning of the Summer. This trip is part of our travel programme and gave members the opportunity to explore Canadian agriculture, gain global insight and bring new ideas home to Northern Ireland. The tour aimed to broaden membersโ€™ agricultural understanding, develop their leadership skills, encourage further innovation within Northern Irelandโ€™s agri-sector, strengthen cultural exchange and global connections and share learning across YFCU and the wider farming communities.

What an achievement for our members, who have officially completed their ๐ƒ๐ฎ๐ค๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐„๐๐ข๐ง๐›๐ฎ๐ซ๐ ๐กโ€™๐ฌ ๐†๐จ๐ฅ๐ ๐€๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐ ๐„๐ฑ๐ฉ๐ž๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง!

After months of training and completing their practice expeditions, the team took on their final stage this weekend, canoeing through Fermanagh, and successfully completed their expedition! ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’ช
