Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster Northern Irelandโ€™s Largest Rural Youth Organisation With 3,600+ Members ๐Ÿค  YFCU has over 3,000 members aged 12- 30 years old.

The Young Farmers' Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) is an association of local clubs run by young people for young people. It welcomes members from all communities - the only qualification for membership is an interest in rural life. There are currently 58 active clubs in Northern Ireland. AgriSearch are hosting this ๐…๐‘๐„๐„ event on Wednesday 28th October 2026 at the Glenavon Hotel in Cookstown, where they will be exploring flock health, breeding decisions and practical ways to improve sheep farm performance and profitability.

Speakers include sheep consultant Nerys Wright, consultant sheep vet Phillipa Page and farmer and Nuffield Scholar Neil McGowan. There will also be a discussion with AgriSearch project farmers and a guest speaker Q&A.

Tea, coffee and sandwiches will be available from 7:00pm, with the event finishing at 9.45pm.

Last night, our third Public Speaking Heat took place, with members from County Antrim competing ๐ŸŽ‰

Well done to all those who took part and congratulations to everyone who placed! ๐Ÿ†

A big thank you to all of our judges and stewards who helped make the evening a success, and to Ballymena Academy for welcoming us and providing a fantastic venue for the heat ๐Ÿ‘

YFCU gives evidence to Stormont AERA Committee on ANC Payments Bill

Today, YFCU President Kristina Fleming, AERA Committee Chair Harry Chambers, AERA Committee Vice-Chair Daniel Sloane and Membership Development Manager Roberta Simmons gave evidence to the Stormont AERA Committee on the Areas of Natural Constraints (Payments) Bill.

YFCU supports targeted ANC support for farmers operating under natural constraints, but any new scheme must be funded through new and additional funding.

We highlighted that farmers have already experienced significant reductions in direct support payments and that ANC support should not come at the expense of existing schemes.

YFCU also supports a minimum stocking requirement to ensure payments are directed towards active farmers genuinely farming land within ANC areas.

Ultimately, this is about farm viability, succession and supporting the next generation. If young people are to remain in farming and successfully take on family businesses, those businesses must be able to generate a sustainable income.

A properly funded ANC scheme can help support farm businesses in challenging areas and secure the future of farming for the next generation.
