World Mental Health Day

Today, we recognise the importance of looking after our mental health and supporting one another.

Life can be challenging at times, and we all have days when things feel overwhelming. Remember, it's okay not to be okay, it's okay to ask for help, and you never have to face things alone.

Let's continue to break the stigma around mental health, encourage open conversations, and create a community where everyone feels supported, valued and heard.

Be kind to your mind. Check in with yourself and check in with others. Sometimes, a simple conversation can make all the difference.

Your mental health matters. You matter!

On this day in 1943, PPR's founder, trade unionist, women's rights and human rights activist Inez McCormack was born. Along with many others, Inez fought relentlessly to secure commitments to human rights and equality in the Good Friday Agreement. She was critical in securing those commitments, and critical of the manner in which they were implemented in the years that followed, particularly of the primacy good relations were given over equality, and the effective veto to progress that this handed bad actors. Speaking of her experiences she said "When you accord the same understanding of human rights to those with whom you find you disagree, you have the right to classify yourself as a human rights activist...you have to trust your own courage, trust your own humanity and trust your own capacity to be more than you are."

33,500 families are facing homelessness, thanks to a lack of social housing supply. People in distress are unable to secure support for mental health, with su***de a particular issue for young men. Communities of colour fear racially motivated attacks daily. Those who have fled war and persecution live in destitution. Our climate is changing radically, while people experience increased poverty and marginalisation leaving them unable to access adequate food. These are the people Inez fought for.

🌞 Newhill Families Summer Programme Comes to an End🌞

Today we brought our fantastic Newhill Families Summer Programme to a close, and what an amazing few weeks it has been! 💛

Our families enjoyed a summer packed full of fun, adventure, learning and making memories together. From exciting trips to Infinity Adventure, local farms, High Rise, Armagh Planetarium and Indiana Land, to swimming and fun-filled workshops at Gairdin an Phobail with the wonderful Pauline & Leasha — there was something for everyone to enjoy. 🌈

A huge thank you to all the families who joined us, our amazing mummy's and everyone who helped make this summer programme such a success.

It has been brilliant to see families connect, children explore new experiences and everyone having the opportunity to create happy memories together.

Here’s to another fantastic Newhill summer! 💚
