💙 This Father’s Day, we’re thinking of all the incredible dads, grandads and father figures across Northern Ireland who have been impacted by childhood cancer.

To the dads sitting by hospital beds, juggling family life, holding everything together and finding strength they never knew they had - we see you.

To the dads celebrating milestones and making precious memories after treatment, we celebrate with you.

And to the dads for whom Father’s Day is especially difficult because they are missing a child they love so dearly, please know that your children are always remembered and you are in our thoughts today.👐

This Father’s Day, one of our very special dads, Robin is reflecting on his daughter Myla’s journey after she was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma at just two and a half years old. From months of treatment and time spent apart from her twin sister Georgia to clear scans and making memories together again, Robin shares why he no longer takes the little moments for granted.

“I’m just looking forward to spending a nice day with Jayne and the girls. I don’t take those opportunities for granted anymore.”

This week we're celebrating Volunteers' Week😇

As a small charity, we rely on volunteers to help us run our family events, speak at events and provide assistance in the lead up to an event.

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to all the corporate partners, families and supporters who have and continue to support us through giving their time and sharing their lived experiences to enrich the work that we do. We simply could not do what we do without you.👐

We also thank our Board members who dedicate their time to ensuring the strategic direction of our charity, ensuring that children and young people living with cancer, and their families and medical teams are fully supported through their journey.

This week is about you and we're so grateful for all that you do.🙏🙏

🎗️A huge thank you to Jimmy Johnston and all at Carnalea Golf Club who recently organised a charity golf day which raised an incredible £7️⃣,5️⃣2️⃣0️⃣ for the Children's Cancer Unit. Jimmy, who is a member at the club, organised the event in support of his great-grandson Kobe, who is currently undergoing treatment in the Unit. 🎗️Massive thanks to Ciaran Quinn and the boxers from St John’s Boxing Club in Swatragh who handed over a cheque for a fantastic £4️⃣,6️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ which was raised from the recent North West Whitecollar Boxing Event. Big thanks to the event's organisers and the boxing clubs and fighters who took part and fundraised to support children and young people living with cancer.🙏

🎗️Huge thanks and well done to Simon Dawson who ran the Belfast Marathon earlier this month in support of the Children's Cancer Unit. It's time for our End of the Week Thank-yous and this week we want to say a huge thank you to all the friends, family, and members of the community who recently supported the motorcycle ride-out from the Diamond, Derry/Londonderry to Hazelbank in honour of Paddy Logue.

Thanks to your incredible generosity and support, an amazing £7,000 was raised for The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity 💛

Paddy dedicated so much of his life to fundraising and helping others, and this event was a truly fitting tribute to him and the lasting impact he made on so many people. It was wonderful to see such strong community spirit, with everyone coming together to create a special legacy in his memory.

We are so grateful to everyone who took part, donated, organised, and supported the day in any way. Your kindness and support will help us continue to support children with cancer and their families across Northern Ireland.

Thank you for making such a difference.

🔬🧪CLINICAL TRIALS DAY🔬🧪

Today is Clinical Trials Day- an opportunity to recognise the vital role that research plays in improving outcomes for children and young people living with cancer.

We are proud to fund one of the Paediatric Clinical Oncology and Haematology Research Nurse roles within the Children’s Cancer Unit

👩‍⚕️Alana Sharpe will be a familiar face to families whose child has received treatment for cancer or a complex blood disorder. Having worked in the Unit for many years, her current role now helps ensure that children and young people have safe and equitable access to clinical trials and innovative treatments, while supporting families throughout every stage of their journey.

It was a pleasure to catch up with Alana recently to find out more about her role and how she is playing a part in advancing the future of childhood cancer care in Northern Ireland.

Alana shared how her inspiration will always be the courage and resilience shown by the children and young people during their treatment journey, and she is proud that the work she is doing today will improve outcomes for many children in the future.
