🪴 Connecting communities, creating greener futures…

Fibrus and TCV have joined forces! We will be working with five primary schools across NI to give pupils hands on experience of growing native trees, learning about biodiversity and protecting their local environment.

Over the next 18-24 months, the initiative aims to grow around 300 native trees for schools and local communities.

Each “forest in a box” is expected to produce around 50 saplings. The planting will help enhance biodiversity while leaving a lasting environmental legacy for future generations. Link for full story: https://lnkd.in/eHzsni4H

A big day for the parish! The Volunteers at Cultra have been transforming the garden at Coshkib, Ulster Folk Museum…

For years, the patch sat overgrown and out of use, today they hit a milestone, having built their own gate, they laid the foundations and drove in the posts.

The gate now completes the “colcannon garden”, basically a plot dedicated to proper Mash! The team grown cabbage, spring onions, kale and of course potatoes!

🥬 Cottages and cabbages!

What a day for harvesting… Liz and the team at Cultra meet every Friday across four beautiful sites, chatting and cultivating the land (sun not always included)!
The sites are located in the gorgeous Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, and traditional techniques are used in keeping with the museum. If you’d like to come for a cuppa and be part of the community, get in touch.

Take a wee walk through the stunning An Creagán community garden with me…

Basically a gardeners playground!

Some of the team here have been coming for 15 years, and I have to say you can tell. The chats, the laughs and the support this group have for one another is a beautiful thing to see, and it’s the reason I love working at TCV.

Karley and the team invited me down, because they’d love more of you to join them and wanted help spreading the word. Join them on Thursdays, or get in touch to ask any questions/ hear about more Community garden options near by.
