Carrickfergus Rotary Club The Rotary Club of Carrickfergus is a group of like minded people who meet weekly for fellow ship and fun whilst helping those less fortunate.

The Rotary Club of Carrickfergus is a group of men and woman who have a strong sence of community . We work with young and old alike helping in our own local area and on small and some not so small world wide humanitarian projects.

At the meeting of The Rotary Club of Carrickfergus held Monday 21st September, Past President, Brenda Houston welcomed Phoebe Cullen as guest speaker.

Phoebe, a 15year old schoolgirl from Ulidia Integrated College was accompanied by her mother Sami.

Phoebe gave club members a very interesting and informative talk on “Phoebes Christmas Appeal” which she set up in honour of her grandfather (paps).

Phoebe visits residential care home in the area and distributes Christmas gifts to residents.

Everyone at the meeting thoroughly enjoyed listening to Phoebe and were impressed by her enthusiasm and caring nature.

At the meeting of the Rotary Club of Carrickfergus held
Monday 17th August, President Jackie Stewart welcomed guests, District Governor of Rotary 1160 George Roche and his wife Maeve, Assistant District Governor, Kimberlay Devlin-Neil, Past District Governor, Samantha Wallery, New Orleans, LA, USA and Steve Martineau CEO Friends Forever and his team of young people from various countries.

The guests from USA who were staying in Annalong, travelled to Carrickfergus and spent the day working at Kilcreggan Farm. They worked extremely hard all day then after the club meeting were given a guided tour of the Town Hall and Mayor’s Parlour by PP and former Mayor of Carrickfergus, Sam Crowe.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meeting.

Carrickfergus Rotary Club members were treated to a tour of Kilcreggan Urban Farm on Monday 22nd June.

During winter storms, Kilcreggan lost a valuable poly tunnel which thanks to a donation from Rotary they were able to replace.

President Elect, Jackie Stewart, Past President, Brenda Houston with Ann Rainey, Carrickfergus and Jackie and Ann from Team Haven.

The Rotary Club of Carrickfergus hosted some wonderful volunteers at their Monday night meeting. Ann Rainey, a Charity Support Volunteer who liaises with Team Haven, a Belfast homeless charity, and Jackie and Ann, founders of Team Haven, spoke most eloquently to Club members about their work. Ann Rainey and her husband spend a lot of time and effort in gathering up resources to pass directly to the organisation and selling items to raise funds for other supplies. Ann and Jackie from Team Haven passionately outlined the work of their volunteers in providing food, clothing and counselling to over 60 people each night in the Belfast area. Such dedicated volunteers really embody and echo the Rotary motto of "Service before self". Club was pleased to make a donation to Team Haven and will continue to support Ann's efforts in collecting useful resources.

Also with Jackie is Anna McAllister, from Cithrah who gave club members and the Mayor a very passionate, interesting and informative talk on the wonderful work carried out in the organisation .

Carrickfergus Rotary Club President, Gavin Millar with guests Alan and Robert, bell ringers from St Nicholas Church.

Members of the Inner Wheel joined us as our guest speaker Alan King
gave a very interesting and informative presentation on the history of the peal of the eight Bells at St Nicholas Church and how they had had to move the Bell Tower to a new site due to instability.

After the meeting a few club members had the opportunity to visit the Bell Tower.

Everyone present thoroughly enjoyed the meeting.
