Making connections in East Belfast 👋

The Scouting Support Team recently attended the 'You're a Legend' Youth Support Event, where Georgia and Pamela met local young people and shared volunteering opportunities in Scouts.

Visitors also put their skills to the test with our rucksack memory challenge and sleeping bag packing game. The day even included a feature of the Scouts NI stand on BBC coverage of the event.

A big thank you to EastSide Partnership for hosting such a fantastic day.

Say hello to 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿, our new 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿 (𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 & 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻). We're delighted to welcome Georgia to the Staff Team.

Previously living in Wales, Georgia has recently made the move to Northern Ireland and brings with her a 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴. Having been involved in Scouts from a young age, she understands first-hand the impact it has on young people and volunteers alike.

As part of the 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺, Georgia will work alongside volunteers across Northern Ireland to help grow Scouting by supporting the opening of new provision, encouraging the recruitment and retention of adult volunteers, and helping Groups and Districts put 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀 into action.

If you see Georgia at an event or around HQ, be sure to say hello and give her a warm welcome.

Six Explorer Scouts from 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗜𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 have arrived at Blair Atholl Jamborette (official)

Over the next 12 days they'll be cooking on open fires, camping as an 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 taking on new challenges and making friends from around the world.

Get ready for one of the 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 Beaver events of the year!

I’m excited to announce the Big Beavers Sleepover in 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿, bringing together Beaver Scouts from across Northern Ireland for an evening of fun, friendship and adventure.

Taking place at , 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀 will enjoy exclusive access to the inflatables, crafts, campfire songs, hot food and a sleepover experience they'll never forget.

The event is designed to give young people the chance to meet new friends, try something different and be part of a 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲.

People across Northern Ireland are being invited to pitch a tent and spend a night under the stars in the grounds of Stormont in support of families forced to flee their homes around the world because of conflict.

𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 ☀️

From swimming in alpine lakes to hiking through the Swiss Alps, 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘆𝗿𝗶𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 had an incredible adventure at Kandersteg International Scout Centre this summer.

Along the way they made international friendships, took on new challenges and gained skills that will stay with them for life.

As part of our 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, we're shining a spotlight on the camps, expeditions and experiences helping young people make the most of their summer.

I am delighted to welcome 𝗗𝗲𝗯𝗯𝗶𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 to Scouts NI as our 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲.

Debbie has already been spending time 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 and is looking forward to working alongside our volunteers and employees as she begins this new role.

From the moment I met Debbie, I was struck by her warmth and genuine interest in people. She brings a wealth of 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 and 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, having worked across, leadership teams and boards to help organisations navigate change, develop their people and build strong cultures.

Debbie joins us at an 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 for Scouts NI. Our movement continues to make an incredible difference in the lives of young people across Northern Ireland, and I am confident that her experience and 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 will help us build on that success.

On behalf of everyone in Scouts NI, I would like to offer Debbie 𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲. I know you will join me in wishing her every success as she settles into the role and I look forward to working closely with her in the months ahead.
