👏 Our East Antrim fundraising group are off to a flying start!

Thank you to everyone who came along to the group’s Vintage Afternoon Tea in Carrickfergus at the weekend and all those who donated during the in-store collection at EUROSPAR at Victoria, Carrickfergus 💛

A fantastic £2,010.43 was raised which will make a real difference to local cancer patients and their families.

A very special thank you to group members Lorraine, Jacquleen, Kathryn and Margaret for all their hard work organising the events. Our thanks also to Joymount Presbyterian Church for the kind use of the hall and all those who set the tables, poured the tea, baked the treats, and washed the dishes – you are all amazing.

If you would like to get involved and find out more about joining one of our fundraising groups or would like to arrange your own event, please contact Sarah on 028 9069 9393 or email [email protected]

Friends of the Cancer Centre is proud to fund a diverse range of projects throughout cancer services, supporting staff across Northern Ireland in providing vital care for you and your loved ones.

The charity provides funding to support the Sir Frank Montgomery Library for Clinical Oncology at the Northern Ireland Cancer Centre.

We caught up with Gillian, Library Assistant, to hear more about the work of the library and the difference the support of the charity makes in ensuring access to up-to-date information on clinical care and research.

Our funded staff members in focus for August are Becky and Aoibhín, Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists. In the last year, they have provided specialist care for over 340 people affected by lung cancer and their families.

There have been significant advances made in the treatment of lung cancer in recent years; however, symptom management can be difficult due to the nature of the cancer. Becky and Aoibhin play a vital role in improving quality of life for their patients, by helping them to manage these symptoms.

By attending red flag clinics, reviewing inpatients and outpatients, supporting consultant appointments, and facilitating nurse led clinics, they can coordinate care and provide keyworker support throughout the patient pathway.

We caught up with Becky and Aoibhín to hear more about the impact of your support in helping them to provide vital care for their patients 💛
