The Light That Remains
Some lights burn only briefly,
yet leave a warmth
that time cannot take away.
A life may be measured
in moments,
in heartbeats,
in dreams that never found their way
into the world,
but love has never counted
the passing of days.
And so we light a candle,
not to fill the silence
or chase away the sorrow,
but to honour the love
that still lives there.
For every child
whose name is whispered,
whose absence is felt,
whose place in a heart
will always be theirs.
And in the gentle flicker
of a flame,
may you glimpse something
of the God who holds
what our arms could not,
who knows each precious life
and every unspoken name.
For love doesn't end
where life is interrupted.
It rests in the heart of God,
where no light
is ever lost.
