East Antrim RDA Charity Ride – Shane’s Castle Sunday, 13th September 2026
What a fantastic day we all had at our 7th Charity Ride at Shane’s Castle! The weather was kind, the sun shone, and there were lots of very happy faces — and, of course, happy horses! 🐴☀️
We could not have asked for a better venue, and our heartfelt thanks go to Lord O’Neill, who so kindly permitted us the use of his wonderful estate, Shane’s Castle.
A successful day such as this cannot happen without a huge amount of hard work, dedication and teamwork. Our sincere thanks go to East Antrim team of volunteers From the marshals out on the course to the welcome team in the car park and registration, every contribution helped to make the day such a success. We are incredibly grateful to you all.
Our supporters, on returning from their ride and checking back in, were welcomed into the café for tea, coffee and delicious scones, kindly provided by Jackson’s, Ballynure, and sponsored by NFU Mutual.
It was lovely to see everyone relaxing, enjoying the refreshments and soaking up the atmosphere, while discovering the treats in their fabulous goodie bags. A big thank you to Botanica and Bailey’s Horse Feeds for the super goodies.
Over the years, our supportive riders have come to know that East Antrim RDA put on a super day, and they are always amazed by our generous ballot!

We are also incredibly grateful to Vicky Hoban, both a Para and RDA rider, who was out on the course capturing the day’s action. Vicky flew in from Birmingham especially to be our photographer, and we are so grateful for her time and dedication.
Vicky was accompanied by Nikkita from Botanica International, who was on hand to chat with participants about Botanica’s fabulous products.
Vicky is currently busy editing all the photographs, which will be available shortly. We can’t wait to see them!
Every penny raised from our charity ride helps to finance East Antrim RDA for the year ahead. These funds are vital in enabling us to continue supporting the children from Hillcroft and Thornfield Schools, who join us every Monday throughout the school year at Laurelview Equestrian
Your participation, generosity and continued support help us to provide these children with wonderful opportunities, experiences and the benefits of spending time with horses.
