What a weekend for our Duke of Edinburgh’s Award participants! 🥾⛰️

This weekend saw three Silver groups and two Gold groups successfully complete their expeditions across the Mournes — a fantastic achievement for everyone involved.

🏕️ Gold Expedition – 4 days, 3 nights
Starting in Rostrevor, our Gold groups made their way through Leitrim Lodge, Miners Hole and Tollymore, before finishing in Newcastle.

🥾 Silver Expedition – 3 days, 2 nights
Our Silver groups set off from Tollymore, travelling through the forest and up Pollaphuca, before descending through Happy Valley, continuing to Meelmore Lodge and Hares Gap, and finally making their way to Newcastle.

Across all five groups, we saw great teamwork, determination, campcraft skills and plenty of energy throughout the weekend. There were undoubtedly some challenging moments, but the groups supported one another and showed exactly what the DofE experience is all about.

📸 They took lots of photos along the way, capturing their adventures, challenges and achievements, and we'll be sharing more of these over the coming days.

A huge congratulations to all of our Silver and Gold participants on completing their expeditions. You should all be incredibly proud of what you've achieved!

🌈 What a fantastic day we had at the St John Ambulance NI Youth Colour Run! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Stormont Estate last week. It was wonderful to see so many Badgers, Cadets, volunteers, family members and friends come together for a day filled with fun, laughter and plenty of colour.

The event was a tremendous success, with participants of all ages taking on the course at their own pace while enjoying a fantastic atmosphere. Most importantly, the event helped raise vital funds to support our Badger and Cadet programmes.

We’re delighted to announce that, thanks to the incredible support of everyone involved, we have raised an amazing £4,458.46 so far! This funding will help ensure our young people continue to enjoy a rich and varied programme throughout the year.

Today’s the day! 🌈🏃

We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to the St John Ambulance NI Youth Colour Run at Stormont Estate this morning.

A huge thank you to all of our Badgers, Cadets, volunteers, friends and family who are joining us to celebrate Volunteers’ Week and raise funds for our youth programmes.

Don’t forget your white t-shirt, suitable footwear, and plenty of enthusiasm! We can’t wait to see everyone covered in colour and having fun.

Over the last few days, thousands of young people from across the UK gathered to celebrate achieving their The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Gold Award — made even more special as DofE celebrates its 70th anniversary 🎉

We are incredibly proud that 6 young people from St John Ambulance Northern Ireland attended this year’s celebrations, representing almost half of the 13 young people who have achieved their Gold Award through SJANI in the last 12 months 👏

Achieving a Gold Award is no small feat. It reflects months and years of dedication, resilience, volunteering, teamwork, and personal growth — values that shine through in all of our young people.

Congratulations to everyone who received their Gold Award and celebrated this amazing milestone at Buckingham Palace 💛

🦡 Badger Fun Day 2026 🦡

Our Badgers from across Northern Ireland had an incredible day at Breckenhill, packed full of outdoor adventures, teamwork, and fun! ☀️

From kayaking and energetic games to shelter building challenges, the day gave our young people the opportunity to build confidence, develop teamwork skills, and create lasting memories together. 🚣‍♂️🌿

Of course, no fun day would be complete without a BBQ, giving everyone the chance to relax, recharge, and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere 🍔🌭

It was amazing to see so much enthusiasm, laughter, and friendship throughout the day. A huge thank you to all of our volunteers, leaders, and organisers who helped make the event such a success 💚
