62nd Belfast Scout Group Weโ€™re doing great, but you could help us do better! You can learn skills, first aid and cooking while attaining experiences that can lead on to DofE Awards.

It's a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors and connect with the wider community. At the 62nd Belfast Scout Group, we prepare young people with skills for life. You can learn survival skills, first aid, cooking and even expedition skills that can lead on to Duke of Edinburgh Awards. It is a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the w

ider world. There is something for every young person, whatever their physical ability. We believe in bringing people together. We celebrate diversity and stand against intolerance, always. We are part of a worldwide movement, creating stronger communities and inspiring positive futures. Weโ€™re doing great, but we believe that you could help us do better! We facilitate Scouting for over 100 young people on a weekly basis across all five sections (Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers). There are times when we would really appreciate an extra pair of hands to help us out on the odd Monday night, assisting our Trustee Board or maybe preparing for camp. I am really pleased to share that two of our volunteers have taken on new responsibilities within the ๐—ก๐—œ ๐—Ÿ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฝ ๐—ง๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—บ.

Leading on Volunteering, ๐—ฆ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜๐˜ ๐—ฅ๐—ผ๐—ฏ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ผ๐—ป will help us strengthen how we support our adult volunteers. With experience across County, Regional and Transformation work, ๐—ฆ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜๐˜ really understands what volunteers need and how we can improve leadership and support across the board.

Leading on Programme, ๐—ฃ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ช๐—ถ๐—น๐˜€๐—ผ๐—ป will help keep our programme exciting, consistent and youth focused. ๐—ฃ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟโ€™๐˜€ experience from District roles, World Jamboree teams and as our 14โ€“24 Lead means he brings real passion and insight to this area.

Both Scott and Peter bring a ๐—ต๐˜‚๐—ด๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ป๐˜ of experience and I am delighted they have accepted these responsibilities. I know they will have your ๐—ณ๐˜‚๐—น๐—น ๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜ as they get started.

This weekend, 14 Explorers participated on their practice expedition for their Chief Scout's Diamond Award and Silver DofE Award.

From the sunshine to the rain, low clouds to the mighty winds, and letโ€™s not forget the hills to the level paths, this was a great start to the DofE expeditions for 2026.

Thanks to 62nd Belfast for hosting the DofE experiences, with 109th Belfast and 110th Belfast participating too! โšœ๏ธ

If your Monday or Friday nights are a bit too quiet, this could be the change youโ€™re after. 62nd Belfast is looking for new volunteers to support our programme. No experience needed. Weโ€™ll train you, support you, and make sure youโ€™re part of the team from day one.

What it involves:

We are delighted that Marjorie, our Squirrel Team Lead, has been included in the New Year Honours List, being made an BEM for services to Children and Young People. ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ

To us, Marjorie's passion is just infectious. If you have been a past or present Squirrel, parent/guardian, fellow volunteer or have come across her in some way, you will have benefitted from her calm and collected approach to Scouting and youth work. With nearly 40 years of service to the movement, we have so much to thank Marjorie for. ๐Ÿ™Œโšœ๏ธ
