Positive Minds for Premature Parents

Positive Minds for Premature Parents is a partnership project delivered by TinyLife, Aware NI, Parenting NI and is being evaluated by Queens University. It is funded for 5 years by the National Lottery Community Fund.

This project works with families of premature babies or babies who have spent time in a Neonatal Unit from birth in the Northern and Southern Health and Social Care Trusts. 79% of parents who have had a premature baby felt that their mental health was affected and many of these parents suffer from anxiety, post traumatic stress, OCD, depression.

This project has been developed to help reduce the stigma of mental health difficulties and for parents to increase their awareness by providing information and support.

The families are supported to participate in a range of mental health and well-being activities in order to develop and strengthen their resilience and reduce isolation by connecting with others who may be experiencing similar things in their wider community.
