Announcement

It is with deep sadness this County Grand Orange Lodge of Belfast on behalf of The County Grand Master, Rt. Wor. Bro. Spencer Beattie announces the passing yesterday, Thursday 11th June, of our Esteemed Brother Wor. Bro. Thiepval (Val) Young, from Number 3 District.

Val had given a liftime of Service to this Institution in general and this County in particular, across many Offices. Notably he had carried out the appointment of Deputy County Grand Secretary for 36 years. A job he carried out in an exemplary manner.

Val was known to and held Office at senior level in the Royal Arch Purple and I am sure his loss will also be felt by them.

Our sympathies are with Val's Family and circle of Friends at this very challenging time for them.

Funeral arrangements will be communicated when known.

JUNIOR DEMONSTRATION

On Saturday the Junior Boys Lodges and associated Girls Lodge from our Junior District travelled on a packed bus to Portrush to join with the rest of Belfast County at the Co Antrim Junior Demonstration. A great day was had with favourable weather.

Our thanks go to the Parkinson Accordion Band for leading us and to the Adult Officers of the Girls Lodge who provided excellent Union Jack Boxed packed lunches for the entire District which were enjoyed in Portrush Orange Hall. Our thanks to their Hall Committee for the use of the hall.

2027 will see 50th Anniversary of our Junior District Lodge the warrant being granted in 1977. We now commence plans to mark this in a fitting way.

Our Junior Lodges will go into recess now for the summer but if you have any Boys aged 6 to 16 or indeed Girls please get in touch.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL COMPETITION

Tonight Ballymacarrett Junior District hosted the Belfast Junior County Football Competition at Avoniel Pitches.

Junior Brethren representing 4 out of the 5 Lodges in our Junior District together with Junior Brethren from Ballynafeigh representing No 2 Junior District made the evening a success.

The evening started with a penalty shootout followed by matches that ended up a tie at 5-5. There was then the Adult Officers V Juniors match which resulted in 5-4 to the Juniors.

With refreshments served at the break and trophies presented at the end.

We now look forward to the Junior Grand Lodge Competition later this month in Loughgall.
