🌳What a beautiful day we had when we popped out to Dunville Community Garden to meet their fantastic volunteers.

Dunville was one of six The Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland sites awarded a Green Flag this year! This accolade is a testament to the hard work of the volunteers who look after these community gardens, caring for the plants and wildlife that make this space a vibrant and peaceful oasis.🙌🌻🐞

Year-round dedication is the best way to describe Upper Springfield Resource Centre! 💚🙌

This group have transformed derelict areas into vibrant gardens, allotments, and shared green spaces that foster pride, wellbeing, and environmental awareness.

Through partnerships and events the Centre has strengthened community cohesion, empowered local groups, and created lasting environmental and social impact across the area.🤝🌳

🏆That's why at this year's Community awards we celebrated this wonderful community group with the runner-up Regional Champion Award for the Belfast City Council area.

🌱Community Awards Spotlight

Charles Sheils Community, who cares for the historic Sheils Houses grounds, were our winners from Mid & East Antrim Borough Council this year. They enhanced biodiversity through tree care, wildlife habitats, composting, and sustainable ‘grow your own’ initiatives.

Their weekly gardening, arts, and social sessions, provide a vital support network for older residents, foster intergenerational connections, and create an accessible, welcoming green space for the whole community! 💚

Well, how lovely is this? We were so happy to receive a handmade thank you card from the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award trainees at Crawfordsburn Scout Activity Centre who took part in a recent Carbon Literacy course with our Climate Action team.

We have such a great time heading out and sharing the ways we can all take action for a greener, more sustainable future so this is just the cherry on top. Thanks guys!
