We would like to say a special thanks to Legacy Network who helped us this morning move pallets back into a designated storage spot.

Storing them away from the street puts a stop to young people congregating in one area and also keeps the area looking clean and tidy.

This afternoon after a wee chat with Janine around keeping the area clean whilst collecting for their bonfire. Our little people took part in cleaning up the area.

They were of course rewarded with their favourite Pizza's from Domino's.

This is a residential area with Children playing in the street and whilst we understand service users of the City of Belfast Boxing Academy use the area to gain access to the club, the speed in which cars are driving down Beechfield Street to get into the club, at times not even stopping as they are approaching the junction with Thistle Court, never mind the boxing club gates is not acceptable.

It is dark in the evenings when the club is open, this paired with the recent replacement of streetlighting that is dimmer than the previous streetlights is dangerous.

I wouldn't like to think of the outcome if one of our children are knocked down by one of them cars, they will not stand a chance of survival.

We have CCTV footage of cars in and out over the past few weeks and they are going to now be shared with the police, it can't continue.

We are aware that posters are up around the building and have been in contact in previous weeks but obviously they are no be adhered to by the service users.

Our children's safety in this community comes first and we will continue to advocate for them!

We finished our programme on Friday night with an exciting trip to Trigger Happy Activity Centre for a wee game of Laser Tag, bringing together 17 of our young people to celebrate their commitment, growth and teamwork over the past number of weeks.

We were joined by our Police East Belfast Neighbourhood Police Officers, Matt and Bert, whose involvement in the programme has helped strengthen positive relationships between young people and local policing in our area.

We delivered 15 sessions focused on leadership, good citizenship and community mapping, encouraging our young people to explore their role in shaping and improving their local area. Alongside this, trips to bowling and the Belfast Christmas Market helped build friendships and a strong sense of belonging.

Our programmes are designed alongside our young people to give them the space, support and encouragement to become active members of our community.

Thanks to Belfast PCSP for funding this programme and continuing to support meaningful engagement that strengthens our community.

Big Thank you to our Volunteers Claire Campbell and Janine Thompson Layton who gave up every Saturday evening over the past 4 months to allow this programme to succeed.

More beautiful baskets complete!

It’s been wonderful seeing so many residents getting involved and finishing their window and hanging baskets, each one is unique and full of colour. Some residents chose to keep there own baskets and just planted flowers we love this model of reusing there own materials.

If you haven’t had a chance yet, there’s still time tomorrow morning to join in. We’d love to see you come along!

The rain didn't stop us the last few days in our community Garden!

Alongside our wonderful residents, we created beautiful window baskets and hanging baskets filled using beautiful flowers and materials supplied by Secret Garden Dundonald Nurseries, here at Ulster Tower Street Community Development Association we love to use an Intergenerational approach, teaching new skills to our young people.

All residents took home their beautiful creations helping us brighten our community.

It’s amazing what can grow when a community comes together. Thank you to everyone who got their hands a little dirty and joined us in such miserable weather.

We are still continuing with our Saturday evening programme funded by Belfast PCSP.

We have had lots of fun, playing games and having meaningful conversations about things that matter to us in our lives and community.

We take these opportunities to delve deep with our young people and get a sense of what our community means to them and one thing always comes up is the lack of facilities, i.e football pitches and having nowhere to play or go or do in their wee community.
