Following the recent knife attack and racist disorder in Belfast, our thoughts are with the victim, their family, first responders, and everyone affected by the violence.

We have heard heartbreaking stories from refugee clients who were forced to hide or flee their homes in fear. No one should have to live like this.

We are grateful to the many people across Northern Ireland who have shown courage, compassion and solidarity in supporting those affected. The vast majority of people here welcome and support refugees.

People seeking sanctuary are fleeing war, violence and persecution. The right to seek asylum is a fundamental human right.

Stay informed. Challenge misinformation. Stand against hatred. Show solidarity.

We’ve obtained new statistics through a Freedom of Information request to the Appeals Service, providing insight into the number of social security appeals lodged and heard during 2025–26, along with their outcomes.

We are again calling on the Department of Communities NI to publish this data annually as a matter of routine.

Transparent and accessible data is essential for identifying trends, understanding pressures within the appeals system, and ensuring equal access to justice for everyone.

Read our new, translatable guide to important immigration information for migrant parents on the steps they must take to regularise their child's UK status.

This resource explains what actions migrant parents MUST take to regularise their child's status.

Being born in the UK doesn’t automatically make your child a British citizen. Only children born to British citizen parents, or parents with indefinite leave to remain or EU settled status, are British by birth.
