STATEMENT FROM LAGMORE YOUTH PROJECT:
Lagmore Youth Project strongly condemns the attack that took place last night and stands in solidarity with all those affected. Violence and intimidation have no place in our communities and wish the man affected a speedy recovery.
We are also deeply concerned by the growing rise in racism, hate, and violence being directed towards minority communities across Northern Ireland. These actions do not represent the values of respect, inclusion, and community that so many people work hard every day to build and protect.
As a youth organisation, Lagmore Youth Project stands firmly against all forms of right-wing extremism, racism, sectarianism, and hate. We remain committed to creating safe spaces where young people from all backgrounds can come together, build understanding, and develop positive relationships across communities.
With this said, we will continue to offer our services this evening and remain committed to educating and supporting our young people in the values of diversity, understanding, acceptance, and mutual respect. We believe education and positive engagement are key to challenging hatred and building stronger, safer communities for everyone.
Our work has always been rooted in inclusion, respect, and unity, and we will continue working alongside young people, families, and partner organisations to bring communities together and challenge division wherever it appears.
Now more than ever, we must stand united against hate and continue building a shared future based on equality, compassion, and mutual respect for everyone who calls Northern Ireland home.
